DESCRIPTION:This is an Ecker Hill\, Treasure Mountain\, Park City High School\, South Summit\, Silver Summit\, Park City Day School and Home School program. \nCross country skiing is a great way to build fitness and enjoy being outdoors with friends\, and the ACTiV8 – Cross Country Skiing program is specifically designed to build ski skills and confidence in a fun environment! The sessions are intended for students who want to learn the fundamentals of cross country skiing through games\, drills\, and skiing with peers. \n**Transportation is not provided for this program – if this becomes a hardship\, please reach out to heather@ysausa.org. If there are enough people wanting transportation we may be able to provide it with an extra cost.** \nDates: Jan 7\, 14\, 21 & 28 \nTimes: 3:15pm – 5:00pm \nLocation: Park City Golf Course 1541 Thaynes Canyon Drive\, Park City\, UT 84060 \nDrop-off/Pick-up: Please arrive at 3:00pm to allow students time to get their equipment. SUMMARY:ACTiV8 UOP Nordic Jumping\, Freestyle Skiing and Freestyle Snowboarding
DESCRIPTION:This program is for 6th graders and up. Transportation is not provided for this program – if this becomes a hardship please reach out to heather@ysausa.org. Skiers must be at a minimum of an intermediate level to participate in this program (i.e.\, must be able to parallel ski on Blue runs or above). Snowboarders must be able to link turns on intermediate runs. \nThis is an introductory course that takes place at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) for students who are beginners at nordic jumping. Students will be introduced to nordic jumping\, freestyle skiing or freestyle snowboarding through instruction provided by Park City Ski and Snowboard (PCSS)\, but are intermediate skiers and snowboarders. \nDates:  Jan 7\, Jan 14\, Jan 21\, Jan 28  \nThe Program Fee includes UOP pass (if your child does not have a season pass)\, and instruction. \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. The hill has lengthy 1\,200-foot sliding lanes with a magic carpet that takes  you up the hill for tubing day or night under the lights\, and a sound system keeps the airwaves full of enjoyable tune. \nThis activity will be offered on Monday January 10th\, 24th\, 31st and February 7. DESCRIPTION:The Get Out & Play Alpine Ski program gives kids the opportunity to begin or continue to learn skiing skills alongside their peers. The program is based on the unique partnerships we have built with our local resorts\, and utilizes their talented ski instructors. \nThis special Saturday program is grant funded with a collaboration of Share Winter\, Alterra\, Deer Valley and the Youth Sports Alliance. Participation in this special experience includes lessons\, lift tickets\, rentals\, lunch and much more. \nThis program is specifically for age 7-15 year olds. Students must be 7 by January 22\, 2022. \nDates: Saturday Jan 22\, Jan 29\, Feb 5 and Feb 12. \nVenue: Deer Valley Resort \nTimes: 8:45am first day only; (if you need rentals)\, then 9:45am-3:45pm \nDeer Valley Waiver: Please be sure to complete the Deer Valley waiver either during or after you’ve finished the registration process at the following link:  Deer Valley Waiver. DESCRIPTION:Over the four sessions\, Athletic Republic trainers will help participants develop fundamental movement skills and better motor control. Through drills and games\, we’ll lay the groundwork for developing better awareness of their bodies in space (proprioception). We will also focus on balance and joint stability\, which are essential to avoiding injury during competition or outdoor activities. Classes will be split in different areas of the facility to allow social distancing. In 2012\, Karissa Molen (IDT owner) started with 8 students in Midway\, UT and now IDT has grown to over 600 students in Heber City and Vineyard Utah. IDT brings the best trained and experienced instructors to affordable\, accessible classes for every dancer no matter the age or starting level of experience. IDT has championship teams as well as weekly classes. Each dancer can build their own dance program. A dancer can come to class once a week and be on a team. Or\, a dancer can be on multiple teams\, do a solo\, and be at the studio every day. It is up to each dancer. It is never too late to start dancing! Life is hard enough\, dance should be fun! \nIntroduction to Hip Hop Dance will take place on Mondays 2:30-3:30 on April 4\, 11\, 18 and 25.

DESCRIPTION:Creative expression is infinite and there are no boundaries.  There is no better way to illustrate that\, than by trying different forms of art from around the world and across history. From Gyotaku (traditional Japanese fish printing)\, to Pop Art\, students will explore their own creative expressions through the lens of four\, very different art styles. The class will allow students to try different techniques\, while learning about their historical context. At the end of the fourth and final class\, we will host a gallery show for friends and family. Students will be encouraged to give a brief presentation on one of their favorite pieces/processes. These activities will include mixed martial arts\, indoor climbing\, and indoor cycling. Children will rotate weekly between activities. \nMMA (Martial Arts Self Defense) – The Progressive Defense Tactics instructional system is more than just physical self defense. It integrates the mind-body-spirit approach to personal protection. This approach to Personal protection gives participants an edge over others. Empowering youth and teenagers through defense classes will help them develop effective defensive strategies and gain confidence. \nThe Crag Climbing Wall – Kids will learn the basis of climbing techniques as well as learning how to safely climb in an indoor environment. SUMMARY:POSTPONED - ACTiV8 Wasatch Introduction to Kayaking Fall 2022
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to offer a 2 week flatwater kayaking class at Deer Creek Reservoir with Wasatch Whitewater. Also\, check out our sailing class which is offered on alternate days (Sep 12th\, Sep 26th). \nDates: Monday\, September 19th and October 3rd from 2:30 – 4:30pm \nNo transportation is provided. Parents must drop off and pick up students from Deer Creek Island Beach day use area. \nThis class is geared towards understanding the basics of kayaking. A good foundation of skills and knowledge of equipment will help to set you up correctly for successful paddling. You will learn paddling strokes and boat control. You will also learn how to keep yourself upright using bracing techniques and your options if you find yourself upside down. This class will also visit the introduction to the roll. \nParticipants need to be comfortable under the water because they will be practicing flipping upside down in a kayak while holding their breath. They will then need to get out of the boat and swim to the surface without panicking. This takes a few seconds. Because of this a swim test is required. \nParticipants must complete the swim test with a local lifeguard. Download the swim test requirements here. Also\, fill out this waiver.
