DESCRIPTION:Registration Closes: Sunday\, November 22nd \nThe Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) is excited to offer a four-week introduction to boxing program with Rise Boxing for 6th-12th graders as part of the ACTIV8 Program. \nDates: Mondays\, November 30\, December 7\, 14 \nTime: 1:30-3:00pm \nLocation: Timpanogos Middle School \nStudents will learn the fundamentals of boxing in a supportive and encouraging environment through 3 weeks of 1.5 hour sessions. The session will cover footwork\, punching technique\, combinations\, rules of boxing and application of the sport. Students will develop skills in a non-contact environment that will give them an understanding of the sweet science. Students will get to see the discipline and skill required for boxing in a safe and controlled environment and will develop a base level of skill over the course of the session. \nScholarship Availability:  We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. DESCRIPTION:Registration Closes: Sunday\, November 22nd \nThe Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) is excited to offer a three-week art class taught by artist Morgan McCue at Rocky Mountain Middle School for 6th-12th graders as part of the ACTIV8 Program. \nDates: Mondays\, November 30\, December 7\, 14 \nTime: 1:30-3pm \nLocation: Rocky Mountain Middle School \nPushing Boundaries: Creative Expression Through Art \nCreative expression is infinite and there are no boundaries. There is no better way to illustrate that\, than by trying different forms of art from around the world and across history. From Gyotaku (traditional Japanese fish printing)\, to Pop Art\, students will explore their own creative expressions through the lens of 3\, very different art styles. The class will allow students to try different techniques\, while learning about their historical context. At the end of the third and final class\, we will host a gallery show for friends and family. Students will be encouraged to give a brief presentation on one of their favorite pieces/processes. Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to ice skating. SUMMARY:ACTiV8 Fencing with Salt City Swords
DESCRIPTION:The Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) is excited for this brand new program opportunity and to team up with Salt City Swords\, an organization dedicated to teaching fencing and swordsmanship. \nDates : Fridays December 4\, 11\, 18 \nTime: 1:40 – 4:15 (Instruction will be from 2:30-3:30 PM at Salt City Swords) \nLocation :  Salt City Swords – transportation will be provided from Ecker Hill and back \nDiscover the excitement of fencing\, one of the fastest and oldest sports in the Olympics! This four week course will cover the basics of modern-day sword fighting\, including footwork\, blade work\, rules\, etiquette and basic tactics. Students will develop coordination\, confidence\, speed\, and agility while discovering the intricacies of this fascinating sport under the guidance of expert instructors. \nWhat to Bring: Water bottle\, athletic clothing and footwear \nProgram Chaperone:  Our programs cannot run without parent volunteers. If you volunteer\, your student participates for FREE (you will be refunded the price of the ticket).  Please choose a chaperone ticket (and use your student’s information on the ticket) below to sign up.  You must commit to the full 3 week program. \nScholarship Availability:  We want to provide the opportunity for as many students as possible to participate in our programs. If your child qualifies for the free and reduced lunch program and/or your family earns less than $50\,000 annually\, please select a Scholarship ticket to complete your registration. If you do not qualify for free and reduced lunch but earn less than $120\,000 annually and the registration fee is a burden for your family\, you may qualify for a partial scholarship. Please complete the Partial Scholarship Application linked here to help us understand your financial challenges. The information you choose to share with us is confidential and will be used only for purposes of determining your eligibility for a partial scholarship.
