DESCRIPTION:Cross country skiing is a great way to build fitness and enjoy being outdoors with friends\, and the Get Out & Play – Cross Country Skiing program is specifically designed to build ski skills and confidence in a fun environment! The sessions are intended for students who want to learn the fundamentals of cross country skiing through games\, drills\, and skiing with peers. \nGrades: 1st – 5th \nDates: Jan 30\, Feb 6\, 13 \nTime: 1:15pm – 3:00pm leave school at 12:45 \nVenue: White Pine Nordic Center. \nTransportation is provided for this program. \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. Just select a Scholarship ticket below to complete the registration process for your child.\nPartial Scholarships are now also available for families earning between $50\,000 and $120\,000 annually. To apply for a Partial Scholarship\, please complete the application linked here to help us understand your financial challenges.\n\nEquipment is provided for students at no cost through the White Pine Nordic Center\, and instructors are from the Park City Ski and Snowboard Nordic Team. We do need a parent chaperone each week to help out on the trails with the classes. If you would like to volunteer\, but don’t own your own equipment\, you may borrow some from White Pine free of charge. Please CLICK HERE to volunteer! \nFor students interested in learning about the sport of Nordic Combined (a combination of ski jumping & cross country skiing)\, please consider trying both cross country and ski jumping (link to UOP reg) programs\, or contact Adam Loomis (aloomis@parkcityss.org) for program options through Park City Ski and Snowboard. “I found Nordic combined through the YSA and I’m so grateful for the Get Out and Play program for introducing me to my sport. Nordic combined hooked me because it was just so much fun. I got to launch myself off of ski jumps and then go cross country ski\, run\, and bike with all of my best friends. I love Nordic combined because of all the opportunities it gave me and it helped me become a very well-rounded athlete. I think it’s a great opportunity for all athletes because it allows you to do so many activities as part of training and it helps you develop a very active lifestyle that keeps you healthy\, motivated\, and active.” -Jared Shumate\, USA Nordic National Team Member\, 2022 Winter Olympian \nIMPORTANT NOTES \n\nWe will ski regardless of the weather\, so no refunds will be given for bad weather\, or once the program begins.\nNational Ability Center (NAC) Assistance: If your child will need assistance from the NAC\, please contact Andrew Ball at andrewb@discovernac.org once you’ve completed registration.\n\nIllness: Please do not send your child  to the class if they are home due to illness\, or were picked up early from school due to illness\, or are exhibiting symptoms of illness the days of the program. If your child comes to the program and tells their instructor that they do not feel well\, or is exhibiting symptoms of not feeling well\, they will not be able to participate in the class for that day and you will be called to come pick them up.
