DESCRIPTION:Registration closes Sunday\, Oct. 11 \nThe Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) is excited to offer a special 1 day experience for 6th-12th graders as part of the ACTIV8 Program at Zipline Utah. \nDates: Monday\, Oct. 19 from 1:30-4:30pm (program is from 2-4pm)  \nLocation: Zipline Utah\, Rainbow Bay\, Deer Creek State Park (transportation included from Timpanogos and Rocky Mountain Middle Schools) \n\n\n\n\nCome tackle one of the largest and most challenging ropes courses in the country\, and feel the adrenaline rush of ziplining off an 80-foot tower! Do you have what it takes to conquer all five levels? The Adventure Aerial Park is an open-air obstacle course\, suspended up to 70 feet in the air. As you climb\, each level increases in difficulty\, testing your skills and determination. This experience also includes two 600-foot ziplines and five smaller aerial bridges. Participants must weigh less than 250 lbs. \n\n\n\n\nTransportation is provided from Timpanogos and Rocky Mountain Middle School. Bus will pick up students immediately after school at Timpanogos and then pick up at Rocky Mountain before heading to Zipline Utah at Deer Creek State Park. \nBus Chaperone: To run this program with transportation we need a parent bus chaperone for each school. Chaperones will meet the students at the school and ride the bus to and from Deer Creek. To volunteer\, purchase your child the chaperone student ticket below. \nScholarship Availability:  We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. SUMMARY:ACTIV8 Creative Expression Through Art - Timpanogos Middle School
DESCRIPTION:The Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) is excited to offer a four-week art class taught by artist Morgan McCue at Timpanogos Middle School for 6th-12th graders as part of the ACTIV8 Program. \nDates: Mondays\, Oct 26\, Nov 2\, 9\, 16 from 1:30-3:00pm \nLocation: Timpanogos Middle School \nPushing Boundaries: Creative Expression Through Art \nCreative expression is infinite and there are no boundaries. There is no better way to illustrate that\, than by trying different forms of art from around the world and across history. From Gyotaku (traditional Japanese fish printing)\, to Pop Art\, students will explore their own creative expressions through the lens of four\, very different art styles. The class will allow students to try different techniques\, while learning about their historical context. At the end of the fourth and final class\, we will host a gallery show for friends and family. Students will be encouraged to give a brief presentation on one of their favorite pieces/processes. Our Bouldering program teaches climbing movement\, technique\, and problem-solving in a fun\, supportive environment. Climbers will progress at their own pace while developing strength\, balance\, coordination\, and climbing skills through age-appropriate instruction and weekly challenges. \nParticipants will develop: \n\nClimbing technique and body awareness\nStrength\, balance\, and coordination\nProblem-solving and critical thinking\nConfidence and perseverance\nSafe climbing habits and proper gym etiquette\n\nEach age group follows a progression designed for their developmental level\, with fresh activities and climbing challenges to keep every class exciting. Whether your child is brand new to climbing or has experience\, they’ll continue building skills while having fun on the wall. Lift tickets will be provided for on snow sessions.\nShadow at least 5 hours of lessons at the resort’s ski and ride school.\nDemonstrate a minimum sliding ability in 2 areas:\n\n1) Must show the ability to safely ski or ride in a group on blue terrain.\n2) Must have the ability to maneuver safely in a learning area and around all surface lifts or up/down hills and trails.\n\n\nComplete the course portfolio and have it signed by a snowsports supervisor.\nWrite and submit a letter of intent that describes why you want to become a snowsports instructor. There is no better way to illustrate that\, than by trying different forms of art from around the world and across history. From Gyotaku (traditional Japanese fish printing)\, to Pop Art\, students will explore their own creative expressions through the lens of 3\, very different art styles. The class will allow students to try different techniques\, while learning about their historical context. At the end of the third and final class\, we will host a gallery show for friends and family. Students will be encouraged to give a brief presentation on one of their favorite pieces/processes. DESCRIPTION:Registration Closes: Sunday\, November 22nd \nWe’re excited to partner with Midway Ice Rink to offer ice skating classes. Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to ice skating. There will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater). \nDates: Mondays\, November 30\, December 7\, 14 \nTimes: 2:30pm – 3:30pm \nLocation: Midway Ice Rink \nTransportation is not provided \nIMPORTANT NOTES \n\nWe will skate regardless of the weather\, unless the Midway Ice Rink closes their hill\, and no refunds will be available for bad weather.\nEquipment\, Skate rentals\, are included.\n\nChaperone: We are looking for one adult volunteer to chaperone for all 3 weeks of the program. DESCRIPTION:Registration Closes: Tuesday\, December 8th \nCross country skiing is a great way to build fitness and enjoy being outdoors with friends. The ACTIV8 Cross Country Skiing program\, for students in 6th-12th grades is specifically designed to build ski skills and confidence in a fun environment! The sessions are intended for students who want to learn the fundamentals of cross country skiing through games\, drills\, and skiing with peers. \nPlease fill out this waiver. Your child will not be able to participate until it is completed. \nDates: Wednesday\, December 16 and Friday\, December 18 \nTimes: 2:30pm – 5:45pm (students will be at Soldier Hollow from 3:15-5:15pm) \nLocation: Soldier Hollow Nordic Center \nTransportation: This program includes transportation from Timpanogos and Rocky Mountain middle schools and back afterwards.  \nThis program will happen rain or shine\, and there will be no refunds for bad weather. \nChaperones: Our programs rely on parent volunteers to help chaperone each program.
