DESCRIPTION:  \n \nJoin us for our next Power of Play! Dr Alexander Cohen\, Ph.D.\, CMPC Senior Sport Psychologist United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee will be providing a workshop for coaches on Performance Readiness: Integrating Sport Psychology into Youth Sport Coaching. Dr. Alexander Cohen is a Senior Sport Psychologist at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). Dr. Cohen provides sport psychology consultation and counseling for national teams\, athletes\, and coaches at the Olympic Training Centers\, at various National Governing Body training sites\, and at national and international competitions. As a licensed psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC)\, Dr. Cohen assists coaches in creating supportive performance environments that promote psychological and physical skill acquisition and mastery. He works directly with athletes to maximize Performance Readiness (the ability to focus on the right thing\, at the right time\, every time) through quality preparation\, enhanced resilience\, and mindful self-regulation of awareness and attention. Dr. Cohen resides in Park City\, UT with his wife\, son\, and golden retriever. Transportation from JR Smith and Heber Valley elementary schools to Soldier Hollow and back is included.  \nThe Soldier Hollow Kickers and Gliders program is for youth ages 6-11 new to skiing or who are looking to improve their skills. Kickers and Gliders participants will learn the basics of cross-country skiing through exploring the trails\, playing games\, and doing drills on snow. This program is designed to help youth stay active in the outdoors and instill a love for the sport. All equipment is provided to participants. Registration covers equipment to ski\, trail passes\, and coaching. This program is for students in the Ogden School District only.  \nProgram Details \n\nDates: January 7\, 14\, 21\, 28\nTime: 2-4 PM (on the snow)\nAge: 3rd-6th graders\nVenue: Snowbasin\nSkill Level: Lessons are designed for skiers and snowboarders already able to turn and stop independently.\nTransportation: Meet up location is Polk Elementary. Skiers/Riders must be at a MINIMUM of an intermediate level to participate in this program (i.e.\, must be able to parallel ski on blue runs or above).  Please reach out to us if you have questions regarding ability level before registering.  \nThis program is an introduction to freestyle/freeski or nordic jumping that takes place at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) for students who are intermediate/advanced skiers or riders. Participants will choose either nordic jumping or freestyle/freeski. Instruction provided by Park City Ski and Snowboard (PCSS). \nFreestyle/Freeski: Explore the terrain parks and mogul courses at the Utah Olympic Park\, the training grounds of the US Ski Team\, with knowledgeable and experienced coaches from PCSS’s Freestyle All Skills Team. Intermediate skiers will ride a range of freestyle/freeski terrain as an introduction to slopestyle and mogul disciplines. Athletes will learn and hone basic skills in the following areas: skiing switch (backwards)\, sliding rails and boxes\, hitting various sized jumps (incorporating basic tricks like grabs and spins when ready)\, and maintaining an aggressive stance while finding rhythm in an entry-level competition-style mogul course. \nNordic Jumping: Experience the thrill of ski jumping in a safe and controlled environment. Skiers will spend their time on our small nordic jumps and progress from the landing hill of the smallest jump (10M) and have opportunities to progress to the 10M\, 20M and even 40M ski jump. This program is for homeschool\, Wasatch Learning Academy\, and Thriving Day Academy students.  \nProgram Details \n\nDates: Thursdays\, Jan 8\, 15\, 22\, 29\, Feb 5\nTime: 12:15 pm – 4:30 pm (Class runs from 1:15 pm – 4:00 pm)\nAge: 1st-5th grades\nVenue: Canyons Village at Park City Mountain Resort\nSkill Level: Lessons are designed for beginner to intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Advanced skiers/snowboarders may prefer the UOP or Woodward programs.\nTransportation: Bus transportation is provided to and from the Canyons side of Park City Mountain Resort. Pick-up and drop-off occurs at South Field Park parking lot on 100 S in Heber.\nRequired Equipment/Gear: skis/snowboard and boots\, helmet\, googles\, water-proof gloves/mittens and proper snow clothing.\nProgram Cost:\n\n$215 with a season pass\n$240 without a season pass\n$50 scholarship (for students on free and reduced lunch\, includes ski/snowboard rentals)\n$150 sibling (the sibling discount is available only with the purchase of a standard ticket\, sponsored by Kodiak)\nThe fee includes lift tickets (for participants without a season pass)\, instruction\, and transportation. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to partner with Soldier Hollow to offer a 2 day introduction to the Kicker and Gliders program. Transportation from Daniels Canyon\, Old Mill and Midway elementary schools to Soldier Hollow and back is included.  \nThe Soldier Hollow Kickers and Gliders program is for youth ages 6-11 new to skiing or who are looking to improve their skills. Kickers and Gliders participants will learn the basics of cross-country skiing through exploring the trails\, playing games\, and doing drills on snow. This program is designed to help youth stay active in the outdoors and instill a love for the sport. All equipment is provided to participants. If you earn less than $50\,000 annually\, please select a Scholarship ticket to complete your registration. DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT! Skiers/Riders must be at a MINIMUM of an intermediate level to participate in this program (i.e.\, must be able to parallel ski on blue runs or above).  Please reach out to us if you have questions regarding ability level before registering.  \nThis program is an introduction to freestyle/freeski\, freestyle snowboarding or nordic jumping that takes place at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) for students who are intermediate/advanced skiers or riders. Participants will choose either nordic jumping\, freestyle/freeski\, or freestyle snowboarding. Instruction provided by Park City Ski and Snowboard (PCSS). \nFreestyle/Freeski: Explore the terrain parks and mogul courses at the Utah Olympic Park\, the training grounds of the US Ski Team\, with knowledgeable and experienced coaches from PCSS’s Freestyle All Skills Team. Intermediate skiers will ride a range of freestyle/freeski terrain as an introduction to slopestyle and mogul disciplines. Athletes will learn and hone basic skills in the following areas: skiing switch (backwards)\, sliding rails and boxes\, hitting various sized jumps (incorporating basic tricks like grabs and spins when ready)\, and maintaining an aggressive stance while finding rhythm in an entry-level competition-style mogul course. \nNordic Jumping: Experience the thrill of ski jumping in a safe and controlled environment. Skiers will spend their time on our small nordic jumps and progress from the landing hill of the smallest jump (10M) and have opportunities to progress to the 10M\, 20M and even 40M ski jump. This program can be done on any alpine skis (poles are not used).  \nNordic Combine: For students interested in learning about the sport of Nordic Combine (a combination of ski jumping & cross country skiing)\, please contact Adam at aloomis@parkcityss.org for program options with Park City Ski and Snowboard.  \nSnowboard: Get started in the exciting world of Freestyle Snowboarding at the UOP with incredible terrain and incredible coaches. The UOP offers a variety of jumps and boxes to fast-forward your riding and have some fun on the hill with some new friends. Coaches will focus on skill development and some freestyle terrain. This is a great program to gain confidence on your board in a world class environment. \nDates: Fridays Jan 9\, 16\, 23\, 30; 1:15-3 pm \nProgram Fee: $185 \nThe program fee includes transportation\, UOP pass\, and instruction. \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually.
