SUMMARY:Luge - Three Week Program
DESCRIPTION:Dates November 3\, 10\, 17.  \nStudents from 4th Grade – 9th Grade welcome \nThe US Luge Association/Youth Winter Sports Alliance After School Luge Program is designed specifically for youth ages 8-13 (minimum height 52 inches)\, who have never been on a sled before. This program can lead directly to on-going training opportunities with the Wasatch Luge Club’s Youth Training Program and national level competitions. \nAll athletes start at curve 12\, the lowest point available on the track to run sleds. Here we take the first few runs on the last 4 curves (bottom ¼) of the track. Once everyone is comfortable we move up the track to the Tourist Start (one curve and straightaway higher). \nThe program runs for 3 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all three of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the Wasatch Luge Club’s Youth Training Program (meets Saturday nights). \nTransportation to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) and athlete pick up from the UOP after sliding will need to be done by parents.  All athletes (students) need to be at the UOP by 2:00 PM. They will slide from 2:30-4:00 and be available for pick up at 4:00 PM. Parents are gladly invited to stay and watch. \nFor questions or to get a registration packet call Jon Owen at the USA Luge Park City office\, 435-647-3800 or e-mail jono@usaluge.org \n

SUMMARY:GO&P Ice Skating November 2023
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of skating\, falling and how to get up. Kids will be divided up into groups and rotate through different stations that will teach specific skill sets\, play games and allow for “free skate” time.  Each of the following weeks will  focus on a specific type of skating\, including figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities). \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that that this program also focuses on “Fun On Ice” to get the kids out on the ice skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates: November 17th\,  December 1st\,  8th 15th. \nTimes: 1:30pm – 2:45pm \nLocation: Park City Ice Arena \nTransportation is provided. Students from Silver Summit Academy and Telos Classical Academy may ride the bus from Trailside Elementary School. Students from Park City Day School may ride the bus from Jeremy Ranch Elementary School. \nWe are looking for a Program Coordinator for each of the schools. Volunteers who are the coordinator for all 4 weeks of the program will receive a significant discount on the program fees for 1 child registered in the program. Interested individuals please contact Lucy@ysausa.org.  \nPartial Scholarships Available! We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. If you earn less than $50\,000 annually\, please select a Scholarship ticket to complete your registration. If you earn more than $50\,000 annually but less than $120\,000 annually and the registration fee is a burden for your family\, you may qualify for a partial scholarship. Please complete the Partial Scholarship Application linked here to help us understand your financial challenges. The information you choose to share with us is confidential and will be used only for purposes of determining your eligibility for a partial scholarship. You may be asked to provide documentation (i.e.\, paystubs\, tax forms\, or W-2s) to confirm your income and/or other financial information. \nNo refunds will be given once registration closes except under extenuating circumstances. \nFor questions please contact Heather Sims at heather@ysausa.org. or 831.254.6011

I think it’s a great opportunity for all athletes because it allows you to do so many activities as part of training and it helps you develop a very active lifestyle that keeps you healthy\, motivated\, and active.”\n-Jared Shumate\, USA Nordic National Team Member\, 2022 Winter Olympian\nIMPORTANT NOTES \n\nWe will ski regardless of the weather\, so no refunds will be given for bad weather\, or once the program begins.\nNational Ability Center (NAC) Assistance: If your child will need assistance from the NAC\, please contact Andrew Ball at andrewb@discovernac.org once you’ve completed registration.\n\nIllness: Please do not send your child  to the class if they are home due to illness\, or were picked up early from school due to illness\, or are exhibiting symptoms of illness the days of the program.
