DESCRIPTION:Experience all the sports offered inside Woodward’s world-class facility including trampolines and parkour\, or skateboarding\, scooter and BMX riding.  Students can choose to participate in either acro (trampolines and parkour) or wheeled-sports (skateboarding\, scooter\, or BMX) with Woodward coaches.  All abilities welcome. \nVolunteers will be needed in order to provide transportation: A volunteer for Lead Chaperone will receive a sizable discount on one (1) child’s registration. Please select the lead chaperone ticket or contact jjohnson@ywsa.org with questions. This person will need to ride the bus each week. An additional bus chaperone may be needed to assist the lead each week if we have more than 20 students. We can offer a second discounted chaperone ticket if there are two people able to chaperone for all four sessions. \nThis program is for grades 1st-4th. \nDates: March 7\, 21\, 28\, April 11; 2:45-4:15 pm \nTransportation is provided. The bus will leave South Summit Elementary about 2:15 and arrive back at the school for pick up around 4:45pm. \nRegistration will close March 2\, 2025. \nScholarships:  \n\nScholarship ticket: This ticket is available for families earning less than $50\,000 annually or on free or reduced lunch program. DESCRIPTION:What You and Your Athlete Will Learn: \n\nChannel Nervous Energy: Transform pregame jitters into excitement and focus.\nAddress Fear of Failure: Build confidence to perform freely without fear of mistakes.\nTackle Perfectionism: Learn to embrace imperfections and focus on progress\, not perfection.\nStrengthen Parent-Athlete Relationships: Learn some tips for how parents can support and encourage resilience in their athletes\n\nThis presentation is recommended for parents\, coaches\, administrators and middle school to collegiate athletes. \nDr. Michael Larson is a licensed clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist specializing in performance psychology\, concussion\, and traumatic brain injury. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Neuropsychology from the University of Florida in 2008. Since then\, he has led the Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychology Lab at BYU\, where he researches cognitive performance\, rehabilitation\, and mental health. Dr. Larson has served as a mental performance coach for BYU Basketball and consulted with Kentucky Basketball\, using his expertise to help coaches and athletes improve their mental game and resilience. He currently teaches Sport Psychology at BYU and provides assessment and performance psychology services through his private practice and collaborations with BYU Ph.D. students. Dr. Larson has published over 145 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He enjoys helping youth athletes and their families build mental skills to boost success and make sports more enjoyable. \nDr. Matthew Seeley\, a BYU professor of human biomechanics\, specifically with applications in physical activity and sport is behind the Strong Youth Project\, which is designed to create positive experiences in youth sports and improve the overall health of young people by decreasing the likelihood of obesity\, cardiovascular disease\, diabetes\, depression\, anxiety\, and other common challenges our youth now face. \n

Our coaching team includes:\n\nNat Mills: 3-time Olympian and former 1000m US record holder.\nBrian Boudreau: Multi-time age group National Champion and Masters age group World Champion/World Record holder.\nRob Kramer: Multi-time National Champion and former professional marathon skater in Europe.\n\nDon’t miss this opportunity to learn from elite athletes/coaches and discover the exciting world of speed skating! SUMMARY:GO&P Ice Skating April 2025
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of skating\, falling and how to get up. Kids will be divided up into groups and rotate through different stations that will teach specific skill sets\, play games and allow for “free skate” time.  Each of the following weeks will  focus on a specific type of skating\, including figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities). \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that that this program also focuses on “Fun On Ice” to get the kids out on the ice skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates: Fridays April 25\, May 2\, 9\, 16 \nTimes: 1:30pm – 2:45pm (Time on ice\, does not include transportation to and from school). \nLocation: Park City Ice Arena \nTransportation is provided. Students from Silver Summit Academy and Telos Classical Academy may ride the bus from Trailside Elementary School. SUMMARY:Call for Artists: Public Art Installation Opportunity at Recycle Utah with Morgan McCue
DESCRIPTION:In this class we will have the unique and exciting opportunity to create a public work of art for Recycle Utah. The creative installation will highlight the importance of decreasing plastic usage and it will be crafted entirely out of recycled materials.  On the first day\, a spokesperson for Recycle Utah will give the class an overview of the proposal request including the theme requirements\, materials\, and structural guidelines. The student artists will work collectively to develop this assignment from conception to completion. The course will culminate in a ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating their work which will be on permanent display at the Recycling Center in Park City. \nThe goal of this class is to expose students to different opportunities available to working artists and provide practical guidance on the application process. They will learn how to write a proposal\, create an execution plan\, and work collaboratively to bring a client’s objective to life. Students will have the added benefit of an education from Recycle Utah on the harmful impact of plastics on our environment and what they can do to help. \nThe class will meet at Ecker for the first session\, and Recycle Utah\, Park City for the last three sessions. DESCRIPTION:Registration closes Monday\, April 21st. \nThe Youth Sports Alliance is excited to offer a four-week mountain biking program for middle and high school students as part of the ACTIV8 Program. \nDates: Mondays from 2:30 to 4:30pm on Apr. 28\, May 5\, 12\, 19 \nLocation: Jordanelle Ridge Trail System (often referred to as Coyote) at UVU\, 3111 College Way\, Heber City \nThis program is for participants who are beginners on trails\, and not for beginners on bikes as students should already know how to ride a bike and may have ridden some trails. We have teamed up with Young Riders who will be providing the coaching staff. \nThe program covers beginner single track trails\, climbing\, descending\, obstacles and safety on the trails. \nTransportation is not provided. Parents will need to drop off and pick up at the Jordanelle Ridge Trail System at UVU. This program will happen rain or shine\, and there will be no refunds for bad weather. \nRequired Equipment \n\nBike\nHelmet (required\, your child will not be allowed to ride without a helmet)\nShoes and socks (no open-toe sandals)\nAthletic clothing\nProtective eye wear (sunglasses are best)\nCycling gloves\n\nVolunteer: Our programs depend on volunteers to keep them running smoothly and affordably.
