DESCRIPTION:This special one-day session is designed to give students the opportunity to go tubing at Soldier Hollow with friends from their own school. \nDate: Tuesday\, February 11th \nTime: 3:30-6:00pm (tubing from 4:00-5:30pm) \nTransportation: Thanks to a special grant we are able to provide transportation to and from Soldier Hollow tubing hill from Daniels Canyon\, Heber Valley\, and Midway Elementary Schools. If your child goes to JR Smith or Old Mill Elementary Schools please register for the tubing session on February 18th. \nVolunteers Needed! Three chaperones\, one from each school\, will be needed in order to run this program. Please select the bus chaperone ticket for your child if you are able to volunteer. Chaperones will need to fill out the VOLUNTEER FORM and complete a quick background check. \nComplete this waiver when you register. \nScholarship Availability: We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. If you child qualifies for free and reduced lunch or your family earns less than $50\,000 annually\, please select a Scholarship ticket to complete your registration. The sessions are intended for students who want to learn the fundamentals of cross country skiing through games\, drills\, and skiing with peers. \nGrades: 1st – 5th \nDates: January 31\, Feb 7\, 14 \nTime: 1:15pm – 3:00pm leave school at 12:45 \nVenue: White Pine Nordic Center. \nTransportation is provided for this program. \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. You’ll learn the basics of this sliding sport and be sent headfirst down the smooth ice track at speeds around 50mph! Come prepared with gloves and an adventurous mindset to begin your journey as a skeleton athlete and you’ll leave the park changed by this unique and unforgettable experience. The skeleton programming at the UOP serves as an entry point into US Olympic athlete development programming and you can continue on this path right here in Park City. \nThe program runs for 4 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all four of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the UOP Junior Sliding Program (meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays). \nEquipment: The Utah Olympic Park will provide skeleton sleds\, helmets and elbow pads. YOU will need to bring clothes to slide in: Lower body- spandex tights\, sweats or track pants preferably with tapered legs. Upper body-outer layer sweatshirt that is somewhat abrasion resistant\, without hood and not too baggy-basically clothes that can get damaged. NO EXPOSED SKIN. Also\, please bring a beanie\, gloves\, and warm jacket and snow pants for track walk. \nTransportation: Transportation to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) and athlete pick up from the UOP after sliding will need to be done by parents.  All athletes (students) need to be at the UOP by 2:00pm. They will slide from 2:30-3:30pm and be available for pick up at 3:30pm. Parents are gladly invited to stay and watch. \nDirections: All participants will meet at the Bobsled/Skeleton finish dock. Once you drive to the UOP\, pass the Museum on your left and follow the road towards the bobsled track.  When you come to a gate (2554#) proceed around the road and the bobsled track will be on your left side. Keep following the road until you come to a parking lot on your left. Please do not park in the parking lot but on the downhill side of the road. The program is based on our unique partnership with Woodward. \nThis is a program for South Summit and Wasatch students 1st-5th grade. This program is for those who have tried our Learn to ski/snowboard program and now want to progress those skills on the slopes at Woodward. This program will help to refine the skills your child has learned and introduce them to new skills. These lessons are designed for skiers/snowboarders who can already turn and stop on their own and are eager to be more controlled\, consistent\, and confident on the mountain. This is not a program for complete beginners. For a beginner program\, please register for the South Summit & Wasatch -Learn to Ski/Snowboard program at Park City Mountain. \nThe program begins immediately after school with students gearing up with the help of parent volunteers. Students will take YSA provided transportation to Woodward where they will have a 2 hour ski or snowboard lesson with their instructor. SUMMARY:Get Out & Play\, McPolin and Parley's Park UOP Nordic Jumping\, Freestyle Skiing or Freestyle Snowboarding sponsored by Kodiak
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT! Skiers and snowboarders must be at a MINIMUM of an intermediate level to participate in this program (i.e.\, must be able to parallel ski on blue runs or above). Snowboarders must be able to link turns on intermediate runs. \nThis is an introductory course that takes place at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) for students who are intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Snowboarders must be a true intermediate and able to make turns down a run similar to Payday at Park City Mountain. Participants will choose either nordic jumping\, freestyle skiing or freestyle snowboarding. Instruction provided by Park City Ski and Snowboard (PCSS). \nFreeski/Freestyle: Explore the terrain parks and mogul courses at the Utah Olympic Park\, the training grounds of the US Ski Team\, with knowledgeable and experienced coaches from PCSS’s Freestyle All Skills Team. Intermediate skiers will ride a range of freestyle/freeski terrain as an introduction to slopestyle and mogul disciplines. Athletes will learn and hone basic skills in the following areas: skiing switch (backwards)\, sliding rails and boxes\, hitting various sized jumps (incorporating basic tricks like grabs and spins when ready)\, and maintaining an aggressive stance while finding rhythm in an entry-level competition-style mogul course. \nSnowboard: Get started in the exciting world of Freestyle Snowboarding at the UOP with incredible terrain and incredible coaches. The UOP offers a variety of jumps and boxes to fast-forward your riding and have some fun on the hill with some new friends. Coaches will focus on skill development and some freestyle terrain. This is a great program to gain confidence on your board in a world class environment.  \nSki Jumping: Experience the thrill of ski jumping in a safe and controlled environment. Skiers will spend their time on our small nordic jumps and progress from the landing hill of the smallest jump (10M) and have opportunities to progress to the 10M\, 20M and even 40M ski jump. DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of skating\, falling and how to get up. Kids will be divided up into groups and rotate through different stations that will teach specific skill sets\, play games and allow for “free skate” time.  Each of the following weeks will  focus on a specific type of skating\, including figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities). \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that that this program also focuses on “Fun On Ice” to get the kids out on the ice skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates: January 9th\,  16th\, 23rd\, 30th and Feb 6 \nTimes: 1:30pm – 2:45pm \nLocation: Park City Ice Arena \nTransportation is provided. \nPartial Scholarships Available! DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT! Skiers and snowboarders must be at a MINIMUM of an intermediate level to participate in this program (i.e.\, must be able to parallel ski on blue runs or above). Snowboarders must be able to link turns on intermediate runs. \nThis is an introductory course that takes place at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) for students who are intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Snowboarders must be a true intermediate and able to make turns down a run similar to Payday at Park City Mountain. Participants will choose either nordic jumping\, freestyle skiing/freeski\, or freestyle snowboarding. Instruction provided by Park City Ski and Snowboard (PCSS). \nFreeski/Freestyle: Explore the terrain parks and mogul courses at the Utah Olympic Park\, the training grounds of the US Ski Team\, with knowledgeable and experienced coaches from PCSS’s Freestyle All Skills Team. Intermediate skiers will ride a range of freestyle/freeski terrain as an introduction to slopestyle and mogul disciplines. Athletes will learn and hone basic skills in the following areas: skiing switch (backwards)\, sliding rails and boxes\, hitting various sized jumps (incorporating basic tricks like grabs and spins when ready)\, and maintaining an aggressive stance while finding rhythm in an entry-level competition-style mogul course. \nSnowboard: Get started in the exciting world of Freestyle Snowboarding at the UOP with incredible terrain and incredible coaches. The UOP offers a variety of jumps and boxes to fast-forward your riding and have some fun on the hill with some new friends. Coaches will focus on skill development and some freestyle terrain. This is a great program to gain confidence on your board in a world class environment.  \nSki Jumping: Experience the thrill of ski jumping in a safe and controlled environment. Skiers will spend their time on our small nordic jumps and progress from the landing hill of the smallest jump (10M) and have opportunities to progress to the 10M\, 20M and even 40M ski jump.
