DESCRIPTION:Learn to ski or progress skills on the slopes at Woodward. This program will help to refine the skills you have learned and introduce you to new skills. This is a program specifically for Wasatch middle schoolers (high school students are welcome but will need to be dropped off at RMMS for the bus). \nThe ACTiV8 Alpine Skiing/Snowboarding program gives kids the opportunity to progress skiing and snowboarding alongside their peers. The program is based on our unique partnership with Woodward. \nDates: Monday\, Feb. 26\, Mar. 4\, 11\, 18 \nTime: 1:30- 5:30pm (The bus will pick up students from Timpanogos and Rocky Mountain Middle Schools) \nProgram Fee: $180 \nThe Program Fee includes transportation\, lift tickets\, and instruction. \nStudents will meet parent volunteers after school in a specified area where the students will get ready for class (get snow clothes and ski gear on). Students then board a bus for transport to the ski hill where they will have a 2½ hour ski or snowboard lesson with their instructor. Once the lesson is completed\, students are transported back to RMMS and TMS where parents will pick them up. \nRequired Equipment/Gear: skis/snowboard and boots\, helmet\, googles and proper snow clothing. **Gear is available for students on scholarship tickets** \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. SUMMARY:Skeleton - Three Week Program 5th-7th grade
DESCRIPTION:Fridays- February 16\, March 1 and March 8 \nUOP Skeleton and Bobsled is the club development program for bobsled and skeleton. We’re a feeder program for the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation. As part of the session\, participants will first do a track walk with their coach to get an idea of how to steer a sled on ice. Next\, they will take two runs on a skeleton sled from the Tourist start (entrance of curve 11). \nThe program runs for 3 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all three of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the UOP Youth Sliding Program (meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays). \nEquipment: The Utah Olympic Park will provide skeleton sleds\, helmets and elbow pads. YOU will need to bring clothes to slide in: Lower body- spandex tights\, sweats or track pants preferably with tapered legs. Upper body-outer layer sweatshirt that is somewhat abrasion resistant\, without hood and not too baggy-basically clothes that can get damaged. NO EXPOSED SKIN. Also\, please bring a beanie\, gloves\, and warm jacket and snow pants for track walk. \nNo Transportation Provided: Transportation to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) and athlete pick up from the UOP after sliding will need to be done by parents.  All athletes (students) need to be at the UOP by 2:00pm. They will slide from 2:30-3:30pm and be available for pick up at 3:30pm. Parents are gladly invited to stay and watch. \nDirections: All participants will meet at the Bobsled/Skeleton finish dock. Once you drive to the UOP\, pass the Museum on your left and follow the road towards the bobsled track.  When you come to a gate (5843*) proceed around the road and the bobsled track will be on your left side. Keep following the road until you come to a parking lot on your left. Please do not park in the parking lot but on the downhill side of the road. SUMMARY:ACTiV8 South Summit Cooking- Creating Seasonal Meals
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we explore seasonal eating and cooking with EATS and Summit Community Gardens. During this four week program\, students will learn how to make meals based on what’s in season\, what seasonal eating is\, and why it’s good for us. Each lesson will also include information on different cooking skills like knife skills\, sautéing\, making a vinaigrette\, and seasoning food\, and tips on how to choose seasonal\, healthy foods and how they benefit our bodies and minds. This program is for 5th grade and up. \nDates: Feb. 9\, 23\, March 1\, 8; 1:20-2:50 \nLocation: South Summit Middle School \nPartial Scholarship Availability.  We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. If your child qualifies for the free and reduced lunch program and/or your family earns less than $50\,000 annually\, please select a Scholarship ticket to complete your registration. DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT! Skiers and snowboarders must be at a MINIMUM of an intermediate level to participate in this program (i.e.\, must be able to parallel ski on blue runs or above). Snowboarders must be able to link turns on intermediate runs. \nThis is an introductory course that takes place at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) for students who are intermediate skiers and snowboarders and those looking to learn how to nordic jump. Snowboarders must be a true intermediate and able to make turns down a run similar to Payday at Park City Mountain. DESCRIPTION:The YSA is excited to offer a four-week indoor climbing program at the Fit Stop for 1st-5th graders as part of the Get Out and Play Program (GO&P)\, sponsored by Kodiak. \nDates: Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30pm on January 22\, 29\, February 5 and 12. \nThe FitStop youth GO&P program is a wonderful program where kids will get to experience the Crag Climbing Wall. This program takes place at Park City Mountain Ski Resort. \nThe program begins immediately after school with students gearing up with the help of parent volunteers. Students then board a bus for transport to the ski hill where they will have a 2 hour ski or snowboard lesson with their instructor. Fifth graders will need to come to the elementary school to meet the bus. Once the lesson is completed\, students are driven back to school where parents can pick them up. \nVolunteers needed! The entire program is parent supported and chaperoned\, so please do your best to assist! To make this program happen affordably\, we need parent volunteers. Volunteers for Lead Chaperone will receive a sizable discount on one (1) child’s registration. Additional Bus Chaperones will also be needed. DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT! Skiers and snowboarders must be at a MINIMUM of an intermediate level to participate in this program (i.e.\, must be able to parallel ski on blue runs or above). Snowboarders must be able to link turns on intermediate runs. \nThis is an introductory course that takes place at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) for students who are intermediate skiers and snowboarders and those looking to learn how to nordic jump. Snowboarders must be a true intermediate and able to make turns down a run similar to Payday at Park City Mountain. Students will be introduced to nordic jumping\, freestyle skiing or freestyle snowboarding through instruction provided by Park City Ski and Snowboard (PCSS). \nProgram fee: $225 \nThe program fee includes UOP pass and instruction. \nDates: Thursdays Jan 11\, 18\, 25\, Feb 1\, 8; 1:30-3 pm \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. SUMMARY:Weilenmann GO&P Ice Skating 2024
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of skating\, falling and how to get up. Kids will be divided up into groups and rotate through different stations that will teach specific skill sets\, play games and allow for “free skate” time.  Each of the following weeks will  focus on a specific type of skating\, including figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities). \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that that this program also focuses on “Fun On Ice” to get the kids out on the ice skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates: January 11th\,  18th\, 25th\, Feb 1 and Feb 8 \nTimes: 1:30pm – 2:45pm \nLocation: Park City Ice Arena \nTransportation is provided. \nPartial Scholarships Available! DESCRIPTION:The Get Out & Play Alpine Ski and Snowboard program gives kids the opportunity to begin or continue to learn skiing or snowboarding skills alongside their peers. The program is based on the unique partnerships we have built with our local resorts\, and utilizes their talented ski instructors. \nDates: Jan 11\, Jan 18\, Jan 25\,  Feb 1 and Feb 8. \nVenue: Canyons Village \nLesson times 1:15-4:00pm\, buses leave school at approximately 12:45pm and return at approximately 4:30pm. \nEarly Bird Program Fee: $210  with season pass; $235 with out season pass. The Program Fee includes lift tickets (if your child does not have a season pass) and instruction. Prices go up after November 21st to $235 with season pass; $260 with out season pass \nScholarships.  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. Just select a Scholarship ticket below to complete the registration process for your child.\nPartial Scholarships are now also available for families earning between $50\,000 and $120\,000 annually. To apply for a Partial Scholarship\, please complete the application linked here to help us understand your financial challenges.\n\nRegistration Deadlines: Be sure to register early as prices will increase on November 21st\, 2023 and registration will close on November 30\, 2023 at 11:30pm. \nSkier/Snowboarder Skill Levels:  Lessons are designed for skiers/snowboarders at a beginner to low intermediate level. More advanced skiers/snowboarders may want to instead sign up for the UOP and/or Woodward programs\, or the Cross Country Skiing program. \nNational Ability Center (NAC) Assistance: If your child will need assistance from the NAC\, please contact Andrew Ball at andrewb@discovernac.org once you’ve completed registration. \nThe entire program is parent supported and chaperoned\, so please do your best to assist! To make this program happen affordably we need parent volunteers. Volunteers for School Coordinator will receive a sizable discount on one (1) child’s registration. Other volunteer positions include Chaperones (who receive a half day ski pass for the day they volunteer)\, as well as Gear-up Helpers at the schools.
