Students will learn the basics of climbing techniques as well as learning how to safely climb in an indoor environment. Along with climbing\, they will learn how to tie into harnesses and climb on rope\, climbing technique\, equipment\, safety\, problem solving\, trust\, teamwork\, strength and endurance\, along with so much more. \nTransportation is not provided. SUMMARY:GO&P Wasatch Schools Woodward Indoor Multi Sport - March/April 2024\, Sponsored by Kodiak
DESCRIPTION:Registration closes on Friday\, March 22 at 9am. \nExperience the sports offered inside Woodward’s world-class indoor facility including trampolines\, parkour\, skateboarding\, scooter and BMX riding. All abilities welcome. Students will choose wheeled sports (skateboarding and scooters) or parkour/acrobatics as their focus. \nTransportation is provided from Midway\, Heber Valley\, Daniels Canyon\, Old Mill and JR Smith elementary schools. \nDates: Monday\, March 25\, Apr. 1\, 15\, 22 \nTime: 2:30- 5:30pm \nAges: 1st-5th grade (we cannot accomodate kindergarteners) \nProgram Fee:  $180 (standard)\, $50 (scholarship)\, $50 (bus coordinators) \nThe Program Fee includes transportation and instruction. \nStudents will meet parent/gaurdian volunteers after school in a specified area. Students then board a bus for transport to Woodward where they will have a lesson with their instructor. Once the lesson is completed\, students are transported back to JR Smith\, Heber Valley and Midway elementary schools where parents/gaurdians will pick them up. \nThe entire program is parent supported and chaperoned\, so please do your best to assist! To make this program happen affordably we need parent volunteers. We need one volunteer from each school to be the Lead School Bus Coordinator.  If you can commit to all 4 weeks you can select the discounted Bus Coordinator ticket for your child. Other volunteer positions include bus chaperones. SUMMARY:GOAP South Summit- Woodward Indoor Acro/Parkour or Wheeled Sports 2024
DESCRIPTION:Experience all the sports offered inside Woodward’s world-class facility including trampolines and parkour\, or skateboarding\, scooter and BMX riding.  Students can choose to participate in either acro (trampolines and parkour) or wheeled-sports (skateboarding\, scooter\, or BMX) with Woodward coaches.  All abilities welcome. \nVolunteers will be needed in order to provide transportation: A volunteer for Lead Chaperone will receive a sizable discount on one (1) child’s registration. Please select the lead chaperone ticket or contact jjohnson@ywsa.org with questions. This person will need to ride the bus each week. An additional bus chaperone will also be needed to assist the lead each week. We can offer a second discounted chaperone ticket if there are two people able to chaperone for all four sessions. \nThis program is for grades 1st-4th. \nDates: March 8\, 15\, 29\, April 12; 2:45-4:15 pm \nTransportation is provided. The bus will leave South Summit Elementary about 2:15 and arrive back at the school for pick up around 4:45pm. \nRegistration will close March 1\, 2024 @ 6pm. \nScholarships:  \n\nScholarship ticket: This ticket is available for families earning less than $50\,000 annually or on free or reduced lunch program. SUMMARY:GO&P Ice Skating March 2024
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of skating\, falling and how to get up. Kids will be divided up into groups and rotate through different stations that will teach specific skill sets\, play games and allow for “free skate” time.  Each of the following weeks will  focus on a specific type of skating\, including figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities). \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that that this program also focuses on “Fun On Ice” to get the kids out on the ice skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates: March 15\, 22\, 29 & April 5 \nTimes: 1:30pm – 2:45pm (Time on ice\, does not include transportation to and from school). \nLocation: Park City Ice Arena \nTransportation is provided. Students from Silver Summit Academy and Telos Classical Academy may ride the bus from Trailside Elementary School. Students from Park City Day School may ride the bus from Jeremy Ranch Elementary School. \nWe are looking for a Program Coordinator for each of the schools. Volunteers who are the coordinator for all 4 weeks of the program will receive a significant discount on the program fees for 1 child registered in the program. Skiers and snowboarders must be at a MINIMUM of an intermediate level to participate in this program (i.e.\, must be able to parallel ski on blue runs or above). \nThis is an introductory course that takes place at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) for students who are intermediate skiers and looking to learn how to nordic jump. Students will be introduced to nordic jumping through instruction provided by Park City Ski and Snowboard (PCSS). Students will need downhill skis and boots and they will start learning skills and good form on the downhill section\, then progress to a small snow made jump\, and then continue to advance to larger jumps. \nProgram fee: $180 \nThe program fee includes UOP pass\, instruction and transportation \nDates: Monday\, Feb. 26\, Mar. 4\, 11\, 18 \nTime: 3:00 – 6:30pm (instruction from 4:00 – 6:00pm) \nGrades: 3rd-8th \nTransportation Provided  \nWasatch: Parents/Guardians will drop off students at the UVU Wasatch extension parking lot to meet the chaperones to go up to the UOP by bus at 3:00pm and pick up in the UVU parking lot at 6:30pm. \nNorth Summit and South Summit: TBD \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. DESCRIPTION:The Get Out & Play Alpine Intro to Skiing program will give kids the opportunity to learn and progress their skiing or snowboarding skills alongside their peers. This program is for those who are brand new to skiing/snowboarding or are at a beginner/ beginner-intermediate level. This program is based on our unique partnership with Woodward. \nThis is a program for North Summit students 1st-4th grade. The program begins immediately after school with students gearing up with the help of their guardian and/or parent volunteers. Students will take YSA provided transportation to Woodward where they will have a two (2) hour lesson with their instructor. Once the lesson is over\, students will be brought back to the school to be picked up. \nVolunteers needed! The entire program is parent supported and chaperoned\, so please do your best to assist! To make this program happen affordably\, we need parent volunteers. A volunteer for Lead Chaperone will receive a sizable discount on one (1) child’s registration. Other volunteer positions include an additional bus chaperone. DESCRIPTION:Learn to ski or progress skills on the slopes at Woodward. This program will help to refine the skills you have learned and introduce you to new skills. This is a program specifically for Wasatch middle schoolers (high school students are welcome but will need to be dropped off at RMMS for the bus). \nThe ACTiV8 Alpine Skiing/Snowboarding program gives kids the opportunity to progress skiing and snowboarding alongside their peers. The program is based on our unique partnership with Woodward. \nDates: Monday\, Feb. 26\, Mar. 4\, 11\, 18 \nTime: 1:30- 5:30pm (The bus will pick up students from Timpanogos and Rocky Mountain Middle Schools) \nProgram Fee: $180 \nThe Program Fee includes transportation\, lift tickets\, and instruction. \nStudents will meet parent volunteers after school in a specified area where the students will get ready for class (get snow clothes and ski gear on). Students then board a bus for transport to the ski hill where they will have a 2½ hour ski or snowboard lesson with their instructor. Once the lesson is completed\, students are transported back to RMMS and TMS where parents will pick them up. \nRequired Equipment/Gear: skis/snowboard and boots\, helmet\, googles and proper snow clothing. **Gear is available for students on scholarship tickets** \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. Just select a Scholarship ticket below to complete the registration process for your child.\nPartial Scholarships are now also available for families earning between $50\,000 and $120\,000 annually. To apply for a Partial Scholarship\, please complete the application linked here to help us understand your financial challenges.\n\nSibling Discount: Sponsored by Kodiak – There is a $50 sibling discount. SUMMARY:Skeleton - Three Week Program 5th-7th grade
DESCRIPTION:Fridays- February 16\, March 1 and March 8 \nUOP Skeleton and Bobsled is the club development program for bobsled and skeleton. We’re a feeder program for the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation. As part of the session\, participants will first do a track walk with their coach to get an idea of how to steer a sled on ice. Next\, they will take two runs on a skeleton sled from the Tourist start (entrance of curve 11). \nThe program runs for 3 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all three of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the UOP Youth Sliding Program (meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays). \nEquipment: The Utah Olympic Park will provide skeleton sleds\, helmets and elbow pads. YOU will need to bring clothes to slide in: Lower body- spandex tights\, sweats or track pants preferably with tapered legs. Upper body-outer layer sweatshirt that is somewhat abrasion resistant\, without hood and not too baggy-basically clothes that can get damaged. NO EXPOSED SKIN. Also\, please bring a beanie\, gloves\, and warm jacket and snow pants for track walk. \nNo Transportation Provided: Transportation to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) and athlete pick up from the UOP after sliding will need to be done by parents.  All athletes (students) need to be at the UOP by 2:00pm. They will slide from 2:30-3:30pm and be available for pick up at 3:30pm. Parents are gladly invited to stay and watch. \nDirections: All participants will meet at the Bobsled/Skeleton finish dock. Once you drive to the UOP\, pass the Museum on your left and follow the road towards the bobsled track.  When you come to a gate (5843*) proceed around the road and the bobsled track will be on your left side. Keep following the road until you come to a parking lot on your left. Please do not park in the parking lot but on the downhill side of the road.
