SUMMARY:South Summit Elementary School – Ski/Snowboard Progression Mondays 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Get Out & Play Alpine Skiing/Snowboarding Progression program gives kids the opportunity to progress their skiing and snowboarding skills alongside their peers. The program is based on our unique partnership Woodward. \nThis is a program specifically for South Summit Elementary School (1st-5th grade). This program is for those who have tried our learn to ski/snowboard program and now want to progress those skills on the slopes at Woodward. This program will help to refine the skills your child has learned and introduce them to new skills. These lessons are designed for skiers/snowboarders who can already turn and stop on their own and are eager to get more controlled\, consistent\, and confident on the mountain. This is not a program for complete beginners. For a beginner program\, please register for the Learn to Ski/Snowboard program at Park City Mountain. \nThe program begins immediately after school with students gearing up with the help of parent volunteers. Students then board a bus for transport to Woodward where they will have a 2 hour ski or snowboard lesson with their instructor. Once the lesson is completed\, students are transported back to the school where parents can pick them up. \nThe entire program is parent supported and chaperoned\, so please do your best to assist! To make this program happen affordably we need parent volunteers. Volunteers for Lead School Coordinator will receive a sizable discount on one (1) child’s registration. Other volunteer positions include Bus Chaperones. These activities will include mixed martial arts\, indoor climbing\, and indoor cycling. Children will rotate weekly between activities. \nMMA (Martial Arts Self Defense) – The Progressive Defense Tactics instructional system is more than just physical self defense. It integrates the mind-body-spirit approach to personal protection. This approach to Personal protection gives participants an edge over others. Empowering youth and teenagers through defense classes will help them develop effective defensive strategies and gain confidence. \nThe Crag Climbing Wall – Kids will learn the basis of climbing techniques as well as learning how to safely climb in an indoor environment. Along with climbing\, they will learn how to tie into harnesses and climb on rope\, climbing technique\, equipment\, safety\, problem solving\, trust\, teamwork\, strength and endurance\, along with so much more. \nCycling- These Indoor cycling classes consist of timed drills and profiles. SUMMARY:Weilenmann-Get Out & Play\, Ice Skating (Winter 2023)
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. We coordinate our sessions with the Figure Skating Club of Park City\, the Park City Ice Miners hockey team\, and Park City Speed Skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of being on skates with different stations teaching specific skill sets\, playing games and allowing for “free skate” time. In the following weeks\, we will explore the skills required for figure skating\, hockey and speed skating. \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that the program is also focusing on “Fun On Ice” to get kids out there\, skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates:   Jan 12\, 19\, 26\,  Feb 2 & Feb 9 \nProgram Fees:  $145. DESCRIPTION:The Get Out & Play Alpine Ski and Snowboard program gives kids the opportunity to begin or continue to learn skiing or snowboarding skills alongside their peers. The program is based on the unique partnerships we have built with our local resorts\, and utilizes their talented ski instructors. \nDates: Jan 12\, Jan 19\, Jan 26\,  Feb 2 and Feb 9. \nVenue: Deer Valley \nLesson times 1:15-4:00pm\, buses leave school at approximately 12:45pm and return at approximately 4:30pm. \nEarly Bird Program Fee: $210  with season pass; $235 with out season pass. The Program Fee includes lift tickets (if your child does not have a season pass) and instruction. Prices go up after November 21st to $235 with season pass; $260 with out season pass \nScholarships.  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. DESCRIPTION:This is an Ecker Hill\, Treasure Mountain\, Park City High School\, South Summit\, Silver Summit Academy\, Park City Day School\, Telos Classical Academy and Home School program. \nCross country skiing is a great way to build fitness and enjoy being outdoors with friends\, and the ACTiV8 – Cross Country Skiing program is specifically designed to build ski skills and confidence in a fun environment! The sessions are intended for students who want to learn the fundamentals of cross country skiing through games\, drills\, and skiing with peers. \n**Transportation is not provided for this program – if this becomes a hardship\, please reach out to heather@ysausa.org. If there are enough people wanting transportation we may be able to provide it with an extra cost.** \nDates: January 6th\, 13th\, 20th & 27th \nTimes: 3:15pm – 5:00pm \nLocation: White Pine Nordic Center located at the Park City Golf Course 1541 Thaynes Canyon Drive\, Park City\, UT 84060 \nDrop-off/Pick-up: Please arrive at 3:00pm to allow students time to get their equipment and suit up. DESCRIPTION:This special one-day session is designed to give kids the opportunity to go tubing at Woodward with friends from their own school.
