These activities will include mixed martial arts\, indoor climbing\, and indoor cycling. Children will rotate weekly between activities. \nMMA (Martial Arts Self Defense) – The Progressive Defense Tactics instructional system is more than just physical self defense. It integrates the mind-body-spirit approach to personal protection. This approach to Personal protection gives participants an edge over others. Empowering youth and teenagers through defense classes will help them develop effective defensive strategies and gain confidence. \nThe Crag Climbing Wall – Kids will learn the basis of climbing techniques as well as learning how to safely climb in an indoor environment. Along with climbing\, they will learn how to tie into harnesses and climb on rope\, climbing technique\, equipment\, safety\, problem solving\, trust\, teamwork\, strength and endurance\, along with so much more. \nCycling- These Indoor cycling classes consist of timed drills and profiles. SUMMARY:GO&P Fall Ice Skating\, Session 1 (Fall 2022)
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of being on skates with different stations teaching specific skill sets\, playing games and allowing for “free skate” time.  The remaining weeks will include a focus on figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities)\, each being spotlighted 1 of the 3 weeks. \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that the program is also focusing on “Fun On Ice” to get kids out there\, skating and having a good time with their friends. SUMMARY:Ecker Hill ACTiV8- Stone Carving!
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to partner with Let’sCarveStone for a new ACTiV8 activity. Let’sCarveStone is a miniaturized version of stone sculpture. Students will use steel rasps (steel files for marble stone sculpture) on Utah alabaster that is cut into small triangles\, rectangles\, and squares allowing each carver to create simple shapes and animals easily.   \nEach week the instructor will have a specific carving such as a chess piece\, a sea turtle\, a dragon\, an elephant\, etc.  The 4th and final class will be up to the students to try something personal for them\, which they will start to plan at the end of the 2nd class.  \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. SUMMARY:SOLD OUT!!!  Luge - Three Week Program
DESCRIPTION:Dates October 28\, Nov 4\, Nov 11 \nThe US Luge Association/Youth Winter Sports Alliance After School Luge Program is designed specifically for youth ages 8-13 (minimum height 52 inches)\, who have never been on a sled before. This program can lead directly to on-going training opportunities with the Wasatch Luge Club’s Youth Training Program and national level competitions. \nAll athletes start at curve 12\, the lowest point available on the track to run sleds. Here we take the first few runs on the last 4 curves (bottom ¼) of the track. Once everyone is comfortable we move up the track to the Tourist Start (one curve and straightaway higher). \nThe program runs for 3 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all three of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the Wasatch Luge Club’s Youth Training Program (meets Saturday nights). \nTransportation to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) and athlete pick up from the UOP after sliding will need to be done by parents.  All athletes (students) need to be at the UOP by 2:00 PM. They will slide from 2:30-4:00 and be available for pick up at 4:00 PM. We’re a feeder program for the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation. As part of the tryout\, participants will first do a track walk with their coach to get an idea of how to steer a sled on ice. Next\, they will take two runs on a skeleton sled from the Tourist start (entrance of curve 11). \nThe program runs for 3 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all three of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the UOP Youth Sliding Program (meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays). \nUOP Waiver MANDATORY- UOP Sliding- https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/e/MsWviN6XaKjbR9cwy3nWRM/ \nEquipment: The Utah Olympic Park will provide skeleton sleds\, helmets and elbow pads. YOU will need to bring clothes to slide in: Lower body- spandex tights\, sweats or track pants preferably with tapered legs. Upper body-outer layer sweatshirt that is somewhat abrasion resistant\, without hood and not too baggy-basically clothes that can get damaged. NO EXPOSED SKIN. SUMMARY:Athletic Republic Young Athlete Development
DESCRIPTION:Over the four sessions\, Athletic Republic trainers will help participants develop fundamental movement skills and better motor control. Through drills and games\, students will lay the groundwork for developing better awareness of their bodies in space (proprioception). Classes will focus on balance and joint stability\, which are essential to avoiding injury during competition and outdoor activities. \nPlease complete the Athletic Republic online waiver HERE before the first class. \nLocation: Treasure Mountain Junior High \nDates:  October 7th\, 21st\, 28th & November 4th. (There is no class October 14th because of fall break for PCSD.) \nTimes: 11:30pm – 12:30pm \nNEW! Partial Scholarship Availability.  We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. If you earn less than $50\,000 annually\, please select a Scholarship ticket to complete your registration. If you earn more than $50\,000 annually but less than $100\,000 annually and the registration fee is a burden for your family\, you may qualify for a partial scholarship. SUMMARY:ACTiV8 Woodward Multi-Sport October 2022
DESCRIPTION: Experience all the sports offered inside Woodward’s world-class indoor facility including trampolines\, parkour\, skateboarding\, scooter and BMX riding.  Students rotate through the sports with professional Woodward coaches to allow for progression\, students will receive some structured coaching and some free time to practice their new skills\,  all abilities welcome. \nTransportation is not provided for this program. \nDates:  October 7\, 21\, 28\, Nov 4; 3:15-5pm \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually.
