DESCRIPTION:Discover Skeleton  \nUOP Skeleton/Activ8 \nPROGRAM – Skeleton (grades 6-7) $100 \nCAPACITY – 12 participants \nDATES – JAN 27\, FEB 3\, 10 \nLOCATION – Utah Olympic Park  No Transportation provided \nTIMES –  2:00-3:30pm \nProgram description: UOP Skeleton and Bobsled is the club development program for bobsled and skeleton. We’re a feeder program for the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation. As part of the tryout\, participants will first do a track walk with their coach to get an idea of how to steer a sled on ice. Next\, they will take two runs on a skeleton sled from the Tourist start (entrance of curve 11). \nThe program runs for 3 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all three of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the UOP Youth Sliding Program (meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays). \nUOP Waiver MANDATORY- UOP Sliding- https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/e/MsWviN6XaKjbR9cwy3nWRM/ \nEquipment: The Utah Olympic Park will provide skeleton sleds\, helmets and elbow pads. YOU will need to bring clothes to slide in: Lower body- spandex tights\, sweats or track pants preferably with tapered legs. Upper body-outer layer sweatshirt that is somewhat abrasion resistant\, without hood and not too baggy-basically clothes that can get damaged. NO EXPOSED SKIN. Also\, please bring a beanie\, gloves\, and warm jacket and snow pants for track walk. \nTransportation: Transportation to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) and athlete pick up from the UOP after sliding will need to be done by parents.  All athletes (students) need to be at the UOP by 2:00pm. They will slide from 2:30-3:30pm and be available for pick up at 3:30pm. Parents are gladly invited to stay and watch. \nDirections: All participants will meet at the Bobsled/Skeleton finish dock. Once you drive to the UOP\, pass the Museum on your left and follow the road towards the bobsled track.  When you come to a gate (5843*) proceed around the road and the bobsled track will be on your left side. Keep following the road until you come to a parking lot on your left. Please do not park in the parking lot but on the downhill side of the road. Children will rotate weekly between activities. \nMMA (Martial Arts Self Defense) – The Progressive Defense Tactics instructional system is more than just physical self defense. It integrates the mind-body-spirit approach to personal protection. This approach to Personal protection gives participants an edge over others. Empowering youth and teenagers through defense classes will help them develop effective defensive strategies and gain confidence. \nThe Crag Climbing Wall – Kids will learn the basis of climbing techniques as well as learning how to safely climb in an indoor environment. The Get Out & Play Cross Country Skiing program is specifically designed to build ski skills and confidence in a fun environment! The sessions are intended for students who want to learn the fundamentals of cross country skiing through games\, drills\, and skiing with peers. \nPlease fill out this waiver. Your child will not be able to participate until it is completed. \nDates: Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30pm on November 28\, December 5\, 12\, 19 \nTransportation is not provided. Parents will need to drop off and pick up at the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. These activities will include mixed martial arts\, indoor climbing\, and indoor cycling. Children will rotate weekly between activities. \nMMA (Martial Arts Self Defense) – The Progressive Defense Tactics instructional system is more than just physical self defense. It integrates the mind-body-spirit approach to personal protection. This approach to Personal protection gives participants an edge over others. Empowering youth and teenagers through defense classes will help them develop effective defensive strategies and gain confidence. \nThe Crag Climbing Wall – Kids will learn the basis of climbing techniques as well as learning how to safely climb in an indoor environment. Along with climbing\, they will learn how to tie into harnesses and climb on rope\, climbing technique\, equipment\, safety\, problem solving\, trust\, teamwork\, strength and endurance\, along with so much more. \nHIIT- high-intensity interval training of 3 (15min) rounds of varying exercises with a 5min break in between rounds. We will work on strengthing our body and mind\, as well as learn how to encouraging ourselves and others keep working and achieving even when things seem hard.
