SUMMARY:GO&P Wasatch Woodward Indoor Multi Sport - Fall 2024 sponsored by Kodiak
DESCRIPTION:Experience the sports offered inside Woodward’s world-class indoor facility including trampolines\, parkour\, skateboarding\, scooter and BMX riding. All abilities welcome. Students will choose wheeled sports (skateboarding and scooters) or parkour/acrobatics as their focus. \nTransportation is provided from Midway and Heber Valley elementary schools. There will be a program in the spring with transportation from Daniels Canyon\, Old Mill and JR Smith elementary schools. \nDates: Monday\, Oct. 28\, Nov. 4\, 11\, 18 \nTime: 2:30- 5:30pm \nAges: 1st-5th grade (we cannot accommodate kindergarteners) \nProgram Fee:  $180 (standard)\, $50 (scholarship)\, $50 (bus coordinators) \nThe Program Fee includes transportation and instruction. \nStudents will meet the volunteers after school in a specified area. Students then board a bus for transport to Woodward Park City where they will have a lesson with their instructor. Once the lesson is completed\, students are transported back to Midway and Heber Valley elementary schools where parents/guardians will pick them up. \nVolunteers: The entire program is parent supported and chaperoned\, so please do your best to assist! To make this program happen affordably we need parent volunteers. We need one volunteer from each school to be the Lead School Bus Chaperone.  If you can commit to all 4 weeks you can select the discounted Bus Chaperone ticket for your child. Participate in the Junior Instructor Program\, sponsored by YSA and the Professional Ski Instructors of America – American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI).  \nLearn what it’s like to work as an instructor and earn a nationally-recognized certificate that can open the door to teaching at a local resort.  \nTo participate in this course you MUST complete all sessions. \nDates: \nClassroom at Park City Mountain Village – Mondays\, Nov 18\, 25\, (3:30-5:00pm) \nOn Snow at Park City Mountain Village – Saturday\, November 30th (9:00-4:00pm)\, Sunday\, December 1st(9:00am-4:00pm) \nTaking Part In This Program:  \n\nMakes you a better skier or snowboarder \nConnects you with others who share your snowsports passion \nHelps you develop important career and life skills\, such as: Communication\, Dedication\, Discipline\, Independence\, Instruction\, Leadership\, Group management\, Professionalism\, Public speaking\nGives you a solid foundation of skills to help you work in the snowsports industry during and after high school. \n\nProgram Requirements \n\nParticipate in 4 hours of classroom learning including three online learning units. \nComplete a 12-hour training course on snow at a local resort. Lift tickets will be provided for on snow sessions.\nShadow 6 hours of lessons at the resort’s ski and ride school.\nDemonstrate a minimum sliding ability in 2 areas: 1) Must show the ability to safely ski or ride in a group on blue terrain. 2) Must have the ability to maneuver safely in a learning area and around all surface lifts or up/down hills and trails.\nComplete the course portfolio and have it signed by a snowsports supervisor.\nWrite and submit a letter of intent that describes why you want to become a snowsports instructor. SUMMARY:GO&P Ice Skating November 2024
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of skating\, falling and how to get up. Kids will be divided up into groups and rotate through different stations that will teach specific skill sets\, play games and allow for “free skate” time.  Each of the following weeks will  focus on a specific type of skating\, including figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities). \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that that this program also focuses on “Fun On Ice” to get the kids out on the ice skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates: Fridays Nov 22 Dec 6 & 13\, 20 \nTimes: 1:30pm – 2:45pm (Time on ice\, does not include transportation to and from school). \nLocation: Park City Ice Arena \nTransportation is provided. Students from Silver Summit Academy and Telos Classical Academy may ride the bus from Trailside Elementary School. Students from Park City Day School may ride the bus from Jeremy Ranch Elementary School. \nWe are looking for a Program Coordinator for each of the schools. Volunteers who are the coordinator for all 4 weeks of the program will receive a significant discount on the program fees for 1 child registered in the program.
