DESCRIPTION:The YSA has teamed up with Young Riders to offer mountain biking for 3rd-5th graders as part of the Get Out and Play Program. \nDates: April 25\, May 2\, 9\, 16 \nTimes: 1:15 – 3:15pm \nLocation: Quinn’s Junction\, Park City \nThis program is for participants who are beginners on trails\, and not for beginners on bikes\, as students should already know how to ride a bike and may have ridden some trails. \nThis 4-week program covers beginner single track trails\, climbing\, descending\, obstacles and safety on the trails of Round Valley. \nTransportation is not provided HOWEVER if this becomes make or break whether you can participate please contact heather@ysausa.org. Parents will need to drop off and pick up at Quinn’s Junction – park in the lot on Gillmor Way at Quinn’s Junction\, Park City. This program will happen rain or shine\, and there will be no refunds for bad weather. \nRiders will need the following: \n\nBike\nHelmet (required\, your child will not be allowed to ride without a helmet)\nShoes and socks (no open-toe sandals)\nAthletic clothing\nProtective eye wear (sunglasses are best)\nCycling gloves – recommended\n\nNEW! Partial Scholarship Availability.  We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. SUMMARY:GO&P Ice Skating April 2025
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of skating\, falling and how to get up. Kids will be divided up into groups and rotate through different stations that will teach specific skill sets\, play games and allow for “free skate” time.  Each of the following weeks will  focus on a specific type of skating\, including figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities). \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that that this program also focuses on “Fun On Ice” to get the kids out on the ice skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates: Fridays April 25\, May 2\, 9\, 16 \nTimes: 1:30pm – 2:45pm (Time on ice\, does not include transportation to and from school). \nLocation: Park City Ice Arena \nTransportation is provided. Students from Silver Summit Academy and Telos Classical Academy may ride the bus from Trailside Elementary School. Students from Park City Day School may ride the bus from Jeremy Ranch Elementary School. \nWe are looking for a Program Coordinator for each of the schools. Volunteers who are the coordinator for all 4 weeks of the program will receive a significant discount on the program fees for 1 child registered in the program. Interested individuals please choose the chaperone ticket. \nPartial Scholarships Available! We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. SUMMARY:Call for Artists: Public Art Installation Opportunity at Recycle Utah with Morgan McCue
DESCRIPTION:In this class we will have the unique and exciting opportunity to create a public work of art for Recycle Utah. The creative installation will highlight the importance of decreasing plastic usage and it will be crafted entirely out of recycled materials.  On the first day\, a spokesperson for Recycle Utah will give the class an overview of the proposal request including the theme requirements\, materials\, and structural guidelines. The student artists will work collectively to develop this assignment from conception to completion. The course will culminate in a ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating their work which will be on permanent display at the Recycling Center in Park City. \nThe goal of this class is to expose students to different opportunities available to working artists and provide practical guidance on the application process. They will learn how to write a proposal\, create an execution plan\, and work collaboratively to bring a client’s objective to life. Students will have the added benefit of an education from Recycle Utah on the harmful impact of plastics on our environment and what they can do to help. \nThe class will meet at Ecker for the first session\, and Recycle Utah\, Park City for the last three sessions.
