DESCRIPTION:Weilenmann Program \nIMPORTANT! Skiers must be at a minimum of an intermediate level to participate in this program (i.e.\, must be able to parallel ski on Blue runs or above). Snowboarders must be able to link turns on intermediate runs. \nIntroduction to terrain parks including park etiquette\, transitions and small features; more advanced students learn tricks on rails\, jumps and in the halfpipe following safe progressions.  All students learn from our professional Woodward coaches and use our innovative terrain parks. \nDates: Thursdays Jan 11\, 18\, 25\, Feb 1\, 8; 1:30-3:00 pm \nTransportation will not be provided. \nRegistration Deadline: Be sure to register early as registration will close on Nov. 30th. \nIMPORTANT NOTES – We will ski regardless of the weather\, and no refunds will be available for bad weather. \nScholarships: \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. DESCRIPTION:This is an Ecker Hill\, Treasure Mountain\, Park City High School\, South Summit\, Silver Summit Academy\, Park City Day School\, Telos Classical Academy and Home School program. \nCross country skiing is a great way to build fitness and enjoy being outdoors with friends\, and the ACTiV8 – Cross Country Skiing program is specifically designed to build ski skills and confidence in a fun environment! The sessions are intended for students who want to learn the fundamentals of cross country skiing through games\, drills\, and skiing with peers. \n**Transportation is not provided for this program – if this becomes a hardship\, please reach out to heather@ysausa.org. If there are enough people wanting transportation we may be able to provide it with an extra cost.** \nDates: January 5th\, 12th\, 19th & 26th \nTimes: 3:15pm – 5:00pm \nLocation: White Pine Nordic Center located at the Park City Golf Course 1541 Thaynes Canyon Drive\, Park City\, UT 84060 \nDrop-off/Pick-up: Please arrive at 3:00pm to allow students time to get their equipment and suit up. SUMMARY:GO&P Ice Skating November 2023
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of skating\, falling and how to get up. Kids will be divided up into groups and rotate through different stations that will teach specific skill sets\, play games and allow for “free skate” time.  Each of the following weeks will  focus on a specific type of skating\, including figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities). \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that that this program also focuses on “Fun On Ice” to get the kids out on the ice skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates: November 17th\,  December 1st\,  8th 15th. \nTimes: 1:30pm – 2:45pm \nLocation: Park City Ice Arena \nTransportation is provided. Students from Silver Summit Academy and Telos Classical Academy may ride the bus from Trailside Elementary School. SUMMARY:Luge - Three Week Program
DESCRIPTION:Dates November 3\, 10\, 17.  \nStudents from 4th Grade – 9th Grade welcome \nThe US Luge Association/Youth Winter Sports Alliance After School Luge Program is designed specifically for youth ages 8-13 (minimum height 52 inches)\, who have never been on a sled before. This program can lead directly to on-going training opportunities with the Wasatch Luge Club’s Youth Training Program and national level competitions. \nAll athletes start at curve 12\, the lowest point available on the track to run sleds. Here we take the first few runs on the last 4 curves (bottom ¼) of the track. Once everyone is comfortable we move up the track to the Tourist Start (one curve and straightaway higher). \nThe program runs for 3 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all three of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the Wasatch Luge Club’s Youth Training Program (meets Saturday nights). \nTransportation to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) and athlete pick up from the UOP after sliding will need to be done by parents.  All athletes (students) need to be at the UOP by 2:00 PM. They will slide from 2:30-4:00 and be available for pick up at 4:00 PM. Through drills and games\, students will lay the groundwork for developing better awareness of their bodies in space (proprioception).
