DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of skating\, falling and how to get up. Kids will be divided up into groups and rotate through different stations that will teach specific skill sets\, play games and allow for “free skate” time.  Each of the following weeks will  focus on a specific type of skating\, including figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities). \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that that this program also focuses on “Fun On Ice” to get the kids out on the ice skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates: April 21st\, 28\, May 5th and 12th. \nTimes: 1:30pm – 2:45pm \n  \nLocation: Park City Ice Arena \nTransportation is provided. Students from Silver Summit Academy and Telos Classical Academy may ride the bus from Trailside Elementary School. DESCRIPTION:Cross country skiing is a great way to build fitness and enjoy being outdoors with friends\, and the Get Out & Play – Cross Country Skiing program is specifically designed to build ski skills and confidence in a fun environment! The sessions are intended for students who want to learn the fundamentals of cross country skiing through games\, drills\, and skiing with peers. \nGrades: 1st – 5th \nDates: January 27th\, February 3rd & 10th \nTime: 1:15pm – 3:00pm \nVenue: White Pine Nordic Center. \nTransportation is provided for this program. \nProgram Fee: \n\nStandard fee\, $110\nScholarship Fee\, $50\n\nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. We coordinate our sessions with the Figure Skating Club of Park City\, the Park City Ice Miners hockey team\, and Park City Speed Skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of being on skates with different stations teaching specific skill sets\, playing games and allowing for “free skate” time. In the following weeks\, we will explore the skills required for figure skating\, hockey and speed skating. \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that the program is also focusing on “Fun On Ice” to get kids out there\, skating and having a good time with their friends. This program is not intended to be a supplement to strict club training. \nDates:   Jan 12\, 19\, 26\,  Feb 2 & Feb 9 \nProgram Fees:  $145. DESCRIPTION:Cross country skiing is a great way to build fitness and enjoy being outdoors with friends\, and the Get Out & Play – Cross Country Skiing program is specifically designed to build ski skills and confidence in a fun environment! The sessions are intended for students who want to learn the fundamentals of cross country skiing through games\, drills\, and skiing with peers. \nGrades: 1st – 5th \nDates: January 6th\, 13th & 20th \nTime: 1:15pm – 3:00pm \nVenue: White Pine Nordic Center. \nTransportation is provided for this program. \nProgram Fee: \n\nStandard fee\, $110\nScholarship Fee\, $50\n\nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. Just select a Scholarship ticket below to complete the registration process for your child.\nPartial Scholarships are now also available for families earning between $50\,000 and $100\,000 annually. SUMMARY:GO&P Fall Ice Skating\, Session 1 (Fall 2022)
DESCRIPTION:Whether your child is skating for the first time\, or has skated multiple times\, this is a great introductory program to many different aspects of skating. The first week will focus on the basic concepts of being on skates with different stations teaching specific skill sets\, playing games and allowing for “free skate” time.  The remaining weeks will include a focus on figure skating\, hockey and speed skating (or other fun activities)\, each being spotlighted 1 of the 3 weeks. \nThere will always be something different to challenge the kids\, regardless of ability (with the exception of the highly skilled skater.) Keep in mind that the program is also focusing on “Fun On Ice” to get kids out there\, skating and having a good time with their friends. Participate in the Junior Instructor Program\, sponsored by YSA and the Professional Ski Instructors of America – American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI).  \nLearn what it’s like to work as an instructor and earn a nationally-recognized certificate that can open the door to teaching at a local resort.  \nDates: Fridays Classroom Nov 4\, 11\, (at school 11:30-1:30) On Snow at Woodward  December 3rd & December 10  for two 6 hours training sessions. \nTaking Part In This Program:  \n\nMakes you a better skier or snowboarder \nConnects you with others who share your snowsports passion \nHelps you develop important career and life skills\, such as: Communication\, Dedication\, Discipline\, Independence\, Instruction\, Leadership\, Group management\, Professionalism\, Public speaking\nGives you a solid foundation of skills to help you work in the snowsports industry during and after high school. \n\nProgram Requirements \n\nParticipate in 4 hours of classroom learning including three online learning units. \nComplete a 12-hour training course on snow at a local resort.) Lift tickets will be provided for on snow sessions.\nShadow 6 hours of lessons at the resort’s ski and ride school.\nDemonstrate a minimum sliding ability in 2 areas:\n\nMust have the ability to maneuver safely in a learning area and around all surface lifts or up/down hills and trails.\nMust show the ability to safely ski or ride in a group on blue terrain.\n\n\nComplete the course portfolio and have it signed by a snowsports supervisor.\nWrite and submit a letter of intent that describes why you want to become a snowsports instructor. Participate in the Junior Instructor Program\, sponsored by YSA and the Professional Ski Instructors of America – American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI).  \nLearn what it’s like to work as an instructor and earn a nationally-recognized certificate that can open the door to teaching at a local resort.  \nDates: Fridays Classroom Nov 4\, 11\, (at school 11:30-1:30) On Snow at Park City Mountain Dec 2\, 9 & 16 (12:00-4:00pm) \nTaking Part In This Program:  \n\nMakes you a better skier or snowboarder \nConnects you with others who share your snowsports passion \nHelps you develop important career and life skills\, such as: Communication\, Dedication\, Discipline\, Independence\, Instruction\, Leadership\, Group management\, Professionalism\, Public speaking\nGives you a solid foundation of skills to help you work in the snowsports industry during and after high school. \n\nProgram Requirements \n\nParticipate in 4 hours of classroom learning including three online learning units. \nComplete a 12-hour training course on snow at a local resort.) Lift tickets will be provided for on snow sessions.\nShadow 6 hours of lessons at the resort’s ski and ride school.\nDemonstrate a minimum sliding ability in 2 areas:\n\nMust have the ability to maneuver safely in a learning area and around all surface lifts or up/down hills and trails.\nMust show the ability to safely ski or ride in a group on blue terrain.\n\n\nComplete the course portfolio and have it signed by a snowsports supervisor.\nWrite and submit a letter of intent that describes why you want to become a snowsports instructor. Grab a friend\, or two\, and join the Park City Curling Club for a fun evening learning the sport of curling. The first part of the session will cover a bit of history\, safety\, stone pushing\, sweeping and team strategies. SUMMARY:Athletic Republic Young Athlete Development
DESCRIPTION:Over the four sessions\, Athletic Republic trainers will help participants develop fundamental movement skills and better motor control. Through drills and games\, students will lay the groundwork for developing better awareness of their bodies in space (proprioception). Classes will focus on balance and joint stability\, which are essential to avoiding injury during competition and outdoor activities. \nPlease complete the Athletic Republic online waiver HERE before the first class. \nLocation: Treasure Mountain Junior High \nDates:  October 7th\, 21st\, 28th & November 4th. (There is no class October 14th because of fall break for PCSD.) \nTimes: 11:30pm – 12:30pm \nNEW! Partial Scholarship Availability.  We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. If you earn less than $50\,000 annually\, please select a Scholarship ticket to complete your registration. If you earn more than $50\,000 annually but less than $100\,000 annually and the registration fee is a burden for your family\, you may qualify for a partial scholarship.
