Students will develop skills in a non-contact environment that will give them an understanding of the sweet science. Students will get to see the discipline and skill required for boxing in a safe and controlled environment and will develop a base level of skill over the course of the session. \nThis program happens at the RISE Boxing Gym\, 2720 Rasmussen Rd. Ste A4 Park City\, Utah 84098 (just the other side of the Freeway from Ecker Hill School). \nNEW! Partial Scholarship Availability.  We want to provide the opportunity for as many kids as possible to participate in our programs. If you earn less than $50\,000 annually\, please select a Scholarship ticket to complete your registration. DESCRIPTION:This is an Ecker Hill\, Treasure Mountain\, Park City High School\, South Summit\, Silver Summit\, Park City Day School and Home School Program. \nImportant\, due to the terrain your child must be an intermediate level and capable of blue runs. \nIntroduction for both skiers and snowboarders to terrain parks including park etiquette\, transitions and small features; more advanced students learn tricks on rails\, jumps and in the halfpipe following safe progressions.  All students learn from our professional Woodward coaches and use our innovative terrain parks. \n**Transportation is not provided for this program – if this becomes a hardship\, please reach out to heather@ysausa.org. DESCRIPTION:Dates: November 11\, 18\, Dec 2\, 9 \nStudents will learn the fundamentals of boxing in a supportive and encouraging environment through 4 weeks of 1 hour sessions. The session will cover footwork\, punching technique\, combinations\, rules of boxing and application of the sport. Students will develop skills in a non-contact environment that will give them an understanding of the sweet science. Students will get to see the discipline and skill required for boxing in a safe and controlled environment and will develop a base level of skill over the course of the session. \nThis program happens at the RISE Boxing Gym\, 2720 Rasmussen Rd. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to partner with Let’sCarveStone for a new ACTiV8 activity. Let’sCarveStone is a miniaturized version of stone sculpture. Students will use steel rasps (steel files for marble stone sculpture) on Utah alabaster that is cut into small triangles\, rectangles\, and squares allowing each carver to create simple shapes and animals easily.   \nEach week the instructor will have a specific carving such as a chess piece\, a sea turtle\, a dragon\, an elephant\, etc.  The 4th and final class will be up to the students to try something personal for them\, which they will start to plan at the end of the 2nd class.  \nScholarships:  \n\nRegular scholarships are available for students with families earning less than $50\,000 annually. We’re a feeder program for the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation. As part of the tryout\, participants will first do a track walk with their coach to get an idea of how to steer a sled on ice. Next\, they will take two runs on a skeleton sled from the Tourist start (entrance of curve 11). \nThe program runs for 3 consecutive Fridays with registered participants sliding on all three of the dates. After the program concludes athletes are then welcome to continue training with the UOP Youth Sliding Program (meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays). \nUOP Waiver MANDATORY- UOP Sliding- https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/e/MsWviN6XaKjbR9cwy3nWRM/ \nEquipment: The Utah Olympic Park will provide skeleton sleds\, helmets and elbow pads. YOU will need to bring clothes to slide in: Lower body- spandex tights\, sweats or track pants preferably with tapered legs. Upper body-outer layer sweatshirt that is somewhat abrasion resistant\, without hood and not too baggy-basically clothes that can get damaged. NO EXPOSED SKIN. Also\, please bring a beanie\, gloves\, and warm jacket and snow pants for track walk. \nTransportation: Transportation to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) and athlete pick up from the UOP after sliding will need to be done by parents.  All athletes (students) need to be at the UOP by 2:00pm. They will slide from 2:30-3:30pm and be available for pick up at 3:30pm. Parents are gladly invited to stay and watch. \nDirections: All participants will meet at the Bobsled/Skeleton finish dock. SUMMARY:SOLD OUT - Pushing Boundaries: Creative Expression Through Art
DESCRIPTION:Creative expression is infinite and there are no boundaries.  There is no better way to illustrate that\, than by trying different forms of art from around the world and across history. From Gyotaku (traditional Japanese fish printing)\, to Pop Art\, students will explore their own creative expressions through the lens of four\, very different art styles. The class will allow students to try different techniques\, while learning about their historical context. At the end of the fourth and final class\, we will host a gallery show for friends and family. Students will be encouraged to give a brief presentation on one of their favorite pieces/processes.
