DESCRIPTION:This is a program for South Summit 1st-5th graders and is for those who have never skied/snowboarded to beginners. If you did this program last year\, please consider signing up for the GOAP South Summit Woodward Progression Program. \nThe Get Out & Play Alpine Skiing/Snowboarding programs give kids the opportunity to begin skiing and snowboarding alongside their peers. The program is based on the unique partnerships we have built with our local resorts and utilizes their talented ski instructors. This program takes place at Park City Mountain Ski Resort. \nThe program begins immediately after school with students gearing up with the help of parent volunteers. Students then board a bus for transport to the ski hill where they will have a two (2) hour ski or snowboard lesson with their instructor. \nDates: Mondays Jan. 12\, 26\, Feb 2\, 9; (no class on Jan. 19) \nTime: 3:00-6:30pm \nProgram Fee:  $185 \nThe program fee includes transportation\, lift ticket\, and instruction. Equipment is not provided or covered under the program fee. \nTransportation will be provided: \nSouth Summit- The bus will leave from South Summit Elementary School. Fifth graders will need to come to the elementary school to meet the bus. Once the lesson is completed\, students are driven back to school where parents can pick them up. Buses/Vans will arrive at the school at 3:00pm with arrival at Woodward around 3:45 and return to school around 6:30pm. \nVolunteers Needed: \nOur programs rely on parent volunteers to help chaperone each program. Program Chaperone tickets are available at a reduced cost. Please purchase a chaperone ticket for your child at registration. This program is for students that live in Wasatch County and have early out on Friday afternoons. Transportation provided. \nProgram Details \n\nDates: Fridays\, Jan 9\, 16\, 23\, 30 and Feb 6\nTime: 12:15 pm – 4:30 pm (Class runs from 1:15 pm – 4:00 pm)\nAge: 1st-5th grades\nVenue: Park City Mountain Resort\nSkill Level: Lessons are designed for beginner to intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Advanced skiers/snowboarders may prefer the UOP or Woodward programs.\nTransportation: Bus transportation is provided to and from Park City Mountain Resort. Pick-up and drop-off will be at Charleston Town Hall parking lot.\nRequired Equipment/Gear: skis/snowboard and boots\, helmet\, googles\, water-proof gloves/mittens and proper snow clothing.\nProgram Cost:\n\n$215 with a season pass\n$240 without a season pass\n$50 scholarship (for students on free and reduced lunch\, includes ski/snowboard rentals)\n$150 sibling (the sibling discount is available only with the purchase of a standard ticket\, sponsored by Kodiak)\nThe fee includes lift tickets (for participants without a season pass)\, instruction\, and transportation. If you did this program last year\, please consider signing up for the GOAP South Summit and Wasatch  – Ski/Snowboard Progression (Woodward) Sponsored by Kodiak; Mondays 2025 program at Woodward. \nThe Get Out & Play Alpine Skiing/Snowboarding programs give kids the opportunity to begin skiing and snowboarding alongside their peers. The program is based on the unique partnerships we have built with our local resorts and utilizes their talented ski instructors. This program takes place at Park City Mountain Ski Resort. \nThe program begins immediately after school with students gearing up with the help of parent volunteers. Students then board a bus for transport to the ski hill where they will have a two (2) hour ski or snowboard lesson with their instructor. \nDates: Mondays Jan. 13\, 27\, Feb 3\, 10; 4-6pm (no class on Jan. 20) \nProgram Fee:  $180 \nThe program fee includes transportation\, lift ticket\, and instruction. Equipment is not provided or covered under the program fee. \nTransportation is provided: \nSouth Summit- The bus will leave from South Summit Elementary School. Fifth graders will need to come to the elementary school to meet the bus. Once the lesson is completed\, students are driven back to school where parents can pick them up. Buses/Vans will arrive at the school at 3:00pm with arrival at the mountain around 3:45 and return to school around 6:30pm. \nWasatch- Parents/guardians will drop off their children 3:00pm at the South Field Park parking lot on 100 S in Heber with their gear and in their snow clothes. Once the lesson is completed\, students are transported back to the South Field parking lot where parents can pick them up around 6:30. \nVolunteers Needed! To make this program happen affordably\, we need parent volunteers for a School Coordinator position and as bus chaperones. Participate in the Junior Instructor Program\, sponsored by YSA and the Professional Ski Instructors of America – American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI).  \nLearn what it’s like to work as an instructor and earn a nationally-recognized certificate that can open the door to teaching at a local resort.  \nTo participate in this course you MUST complete all sessions. \nDates: \nClassroom at Park City Mountain Village – Mondays\, Nov 18\, 25\, (3:30-5:00pm) \nOn Snow at Park City Mountain Village – Saturday\, November 30th (9:00-4:00pm)\, Sunday\, December 1st(9:00am-4:00pm) \nTaking Part In This Program:  \n\nMakes you a better skier or snowboarder \nConnects you with others who share your snowsports passion \nHelps you develop important career and life skills\, such as: Communication\, Dedication\, Discipline\, Independence\, Instruction\, Leadership\, Group management\, Professionalism\, Public speaking\nGives you a solid foundation of skills to help you work in the snowsports industry during and after high school. \n\nProgram Requirements \n\nParticipate in 4 hours of classroom learning including three online learning units. \nComplete a 12-hour training course on snow at a local resort. Lift tickets will be provided for on snow sessions.\nShadow 6 hours of lessons at the resort’s ski and ride school.\nDemonstrate a minimum sliding ability in 2 areas: 1) Must show the ability to safely ski or ride in a group on blue terrain. 2) Must have the ability to maneuver safely in a learning area and around all surface lifts or up/down hills and trails.\nComplete the course portfolio and have it signed by a snowsports supervisor.\nWrite and submit a letter of intent that describes why you want to become a snowsports instructor. Students then board a bus for transport to the ski hill where they will have a 2 hour ski or snowboard lesson with their instructor. Once the lesson is completed\, students are driven back to school where parents can pick them up. \nThe entire program is parent supported and chaperoned\, so please do your best to assist! To make this program happen affordably\, we need parent volunteers. Volunteers for Lead School Coordinator will receive a sizable discount on one (1) child’s registration. Other volunteer positions include Bus Chaperones. The program is based on our unique partnership with Park City Mountain. \n Dates: January 24\, January 31\, February 7\, February 14 \nTime:  Buses will arrive 3:00pm with an aim to be at the mountain for 3:45pm and return to between 6:30pm. \nProgram Fee:  $180 \nThe Program Fee includes transportation\, lift ticket (if your child does not have a season pass)\, and instruction. \nThe program begins immediately after school with students gearing up with the help of parent volunteers. Students then board a bus for transport to the ski hill where they will have a 2½ hour ski or snowboard lesson with their instructor. Once the lesson is completed\, students are transported back to school where parents can pick them up. \nThe entire program is parent supported and chaperoned\, so please do your best to assist! To make this program happen affordably we need parent volunteers.
