Pet Portraits Through History: An Artistic Journey
Animals have appeared in art for thousands of years, serving as companions, symbols, and beloved subjects for artists around the world. In this painting class, we’ll explore the fascinating history of pet portraiture—starting with some of the earliest depictions of domesticated animals.
Using history as our backdrop, you’ll learn to paint your own pet portraits inspired by different historical styles and artistic traditions. We’ll explore various approaches to composition, color, and technique—while discussing how pets have been represented through time.
You do not need to own a pet to enjoy this course—just a love of animals, history, and the creative process.
