Mobile Device Policy
All mobile smartphones and smart watches with recording capabilities, including voice recording and access to the internet, are not permitted to be used during YSA programs, including while riding on the bus and during the lessons, or any activity. Participants are not permitted to record other participants with these devices during any YSA program. Participants may only use their phones or watches to call a parent at the end of the session, or in an emergency. If a participant is observed using one of these devices, YSA may confiscate it for the duration of the program and any bus ride. The device will be returned to the participant or parent at the end of that day's program.
BEHAVIOR POLICY
As you can imagine, YSA participants represent a large group of kids utilizing our local venues. We want to be remembered for our enthusiastic, polite, and respectful students. Please remind your children that their behavior reflects the program as a whole. In the event of concerning student behavior, the following steps will be implemented:
- 1st Time: Student will be pulled from lesson, and will sit with school chaperone for remainder of lesson. Parents will be notified, and behavior concerns will be discussed.
- 2nd Time: Student will be removed from program with no refund. Parent will be asked to pick up student from the venue.
NOTE: If a student has received a “1st Time” warning, and then breaks the Behavior Policy again during the same or a later session, the student will be removed from the program.
Concerning student behavior refers to the time between when we pick up the child until he/she is returned to their parent and includes time at the school, bus, and venue:
- Hitting
- Pushing
- Foul language and racial slurs/name calling or hand gestures.
- Excessive yelling
- Bullying
- Not listening to an instructor, parent coordinator, or volunteer
- Intentionally not staying with group
EXCEPTION TO THESE RULES: Any student who engages in a physical fight or demonstrates other unprovoked negative behavior that cannot be quickly corrected by an adult supervisor will be removed from the program immediately and will not be allowed to participate in any future YSA activities. No second chance.
