Come learn about basic avalanche safety education with the BRASS 101 program. This BRASS sponsored program is for 6th grade and up and filled with potentially life-saving information. This 90-minute program will introduce you to the basics of avalanches and risk mitigation. The curriculum is presented by certified avalanche instructors, Sam Macomber and Anna Marno and includes:

  • Basic snow science showing how the conditions for an avalanche can take shape
  • Red flags that could indicate elevated avalanche danger
  • Mitigating risk: accessing and interpreting avalanche forecasts, selecting good terrain
  • Making good decisions
  • Safe travel rituals when moving through avalanche terrain
  • Opportunities for further education

Our goal is to provide you with a basic understanding of the risks you can encounter, and how to mitigate that risk. This program will be both interesting and valuable.

Hosted and Sponsored by BRASS Avalanche.

Transportation is not provided.
