Parowan Elementary School – Ski and Snowboarding at Brian Head

The Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) Alpine Ski and Snowboard Program invites students in 1st–6th grade (ages 7+) to hit the slopes! Whether stepping onto the snow for the first time or advancing existing skills, beginners and returning riders alike learn alongside their peers in a fun, supportive environment. Offered in partnership with Ski Utah and Brian Head Resort, all lessons are led by certified Brian Head instructors. Round-trip transportation from Parowan Elementary to the resort is included. Registration will close on December 1st at 9am.
Program Details
- Dates: Fridays, Jan 8, 15, 22, 29
- Time: 1:30 pm to 4:45 pm (Class runs from 2:15 pm – 4:15 pm)
- Age: 1st-6th grades (students must be 7 years old by January 8 to participate)
- Venue: Brian Head Resort
- Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
- Transportation: Round-trip transportation from Parowan Elementary to Brian Head is included and students must ride the bus to participate.
- Required Equipment/Gear: skis/snowboard and boots, helmet, googles, water-proof gloves/mittens and proper snow clothing.
- Program Cost: Includes lift tickets, instruction, and transportation for all 4 days. Equipment is not provided or covered under the program fee, except for scholarship tickets.
- $185 standard ticket
- $150 sibling (the sibling ticket is available only with the purchase of a standard ticket)
- $92.50 partial scholarship ticket (Available for households earning up to $120,000 annually. Please complete the Partial Scholarship Application linked here to receive the discount code)
- $50 scholarship ticket (for students that qualify for free and reduced lunch, includes ski/snowboard rentals)
Iron Kids Afterschool Participants: We welcome students enrolled in the Iron Kids Afterschool Program. On Friday mornings, please send your child to school with all of their ski/snowboard gear. It will be stored in a designated area during the school day until it is time to pack up and board the bus. Students will return to the school, and rejoin the afterschool program, between 4:45 pm and 5:00 pm.
Parent Support and Volunteer Opportunities: This program relies on parent volunteers! We need help to keep the program affordable, and volunteering is a great way to participate. All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer form and background check. The link for the background check will be sent after the form is filled out.
- Program Lead Chaperone: Chaperone the full program. A background check is required and your ticket will be fully refunded after chaperoning all 4 weeks. Purchase the program chaperone ticket if you can commit to the entire program.
- Program Chaperones: Help the program lead chaperon and ride the bus to and from the venue.
Equipment & Rentals: Equipment is not provided with standard registration. If you need to rent gear, please do so as early as possible, local shops often end season rentals by November.
Through our partnership with Cedar Sports:
- Students receiving full scholarships (qualifying for free/reduced lunch) receive complimentary rentals.
- Students receiving partial scholarships are eligible for gear rentals at a discounted rate.
